I have an 02 wrx with edm projectors. I bought a xenonfactory hid kit with genuine philips components and had been using it for 2 years with no problems. the kit uses a relay harness to power the kit directly from the battery and is grounded to the chassis. I have disabled the DRL's from behind the glovebox. I also did the foglight mod where you can turn on the foglights with the low-beams off or hi-beam on. i did NOT have the faint hi-beam indicator light on. everything was normal and fine until...

3 months ago my car was broken into and the thieves tore out my wiring on the drivers side hid kit. I got a replacement drivers side hid kit from xenonfactory. the low-beams work fine. now, however, I get the dreaded faint hi-beam indicator light. The hi-beams DO NOT turn on at all, and the fogs ONLY work when the headlight switch is in the 1st position (no low/hibeams on). Once I switch to the 2nd position to turn on the low-beams the fogs turn off. The hi-beams and fogs work correctly if I use regular halogen h1 bulbs i believe (i need to test it again).

another interesting behavior i noticed is that when i had the passenger side hid kit in, and used a regular halogen bulb in my drivers side (before my replacement hid kit arrived), the working passenger side hid kit would NOT turn on if the halogen bulb was connected to the drivers side. It only lights up when either no bulb is on the drivers side, or if the hid kit is attached.

Anyone have any ideas on the cause? I believe the fogs wont turn on because it thinks the hi-beams are always on. but I cant explain why the hi-beams wont turn on at all. I also have no clue how to go about solving this problem. any help/ideas are appreciated.

Check the headlight fuses in the fuse box under the hood.

I had a faint dim high beam blue bulb issue once also and it was that.

I found the problem, I had a short in my wiring (the headlight bulb retaining clamp was squeezing the harness within the headlight assembly and caused a short!)..

Hope this helps
