gotta go pick it up in colorado. pretty sweet deal though.
probly parts will be sale from it. i just want the small block, smoby gets the tranny, maybe the whole engine, depending on if he's got the cash or not :D
but if i just take the small block, alot of parts will be available.
EBAY FTW! (i hope)

I need to get some rear axles to convert to my hubs or steal some hubs and brembos.
Anyone know how hard it is to get avcs working ?
Smoby 08-22-2006, 09:08 PM Shortblock, not smallblock :p
shwoop_soobie 08-22-2006, 09:11 PM Shortblock, not smallblock :p

You will have to get the Sti or Jdm ecu or you can go with a stand alone like the hydra to get the AVCS to work
Smoby 08-22-2006, 10:44 PM I can get the Sti ecu.
What is all involved in putting that into a 02 wrx. Seems like a PITA
Smoby 08-22-2006, 10:46 PM Oh how crazy, I have been watching that auction since I live in Denver and low and behold it makes its way down here.
Go pick up that drivetrain for us and bring it here :)
You can fit it in the L.

just to get the avcs to work? the wrx ecu will run it? it seems like that would strangle that engine's power
Smoby 08-22-2006, 11:05 PM just to get the avcs to work? the wrx ecu will run it? it seems like that would strangle that engine's power
I would have to have a reflash. I would probably just use open ecu.
John2.5RS 08-22-2006, 11:10 PM I wonder if this swap is going to be done before pat's car is!
treefrogaz 08-22-2006, 11:21 PM I would have to have a reflash. I would probably just use open ecu.
you can use a wrx ecu you just wont have AVCS you have to have a jdm or the sti ecu to run it
Smoby 08-22-2006, 11:27 PM Does the 04sti ecu have the same plugs and pinouts as the wrx ecu? Seems like I would have to have sti car harness to use that ecu.

no the us is 4plug, wrx/jdm 5plug. You are going to need to swap off the cam sensors also.

yup, its probly gonna be, whichi makes me wonder why just bought your ass an engine...
you owe me those sexual favors used to be famous for. hmhm (john)
Smoby 08-23-2006, 12:07 AM I read that I have to tap a hole and put my cam sensor on the 2.5
I wasnt sure about the ecu. I will probably run without avcs until I can source a jdm ecu.
AaronB 08-23-2006, 01:11 AM http://elementtuning.com/technical/ej25_install.htm
Smoby 08-23-2006, 01:38 AM Yup, that is where I got that info. Seems pretty straightforward.
Anybody think of any other problems I will run into or what I need to buy. I am going to get a neetronics dccd controller. I am looking into buying rear axles with r180 inner cv and the old outer cv axle so I do not have to get new hubs and brakes. If I can not source those I will put a new ring and pinion in the rear. Do the front axles match up?
Anyone know of a link with good info on the swap I am doing?
treefrogaz 08-23-2006, 05:20 AM I would just get a JDM ecu use the Element Tuning ej25 install link up above and call it a day or give Phil a call at Element and get a Hydra to run on that thing. That is what I run I love it.
Valhakar 08-23-2006, 09:00 AM VERY nice find!

So you are saying I can install a jdm ecu plug and play? I still have to run wires for avcs correct?
I am not going to have to much money to play with after this so Hydra is out of the question. This is why I was wanting to run my wrx ecu without avcs. I am going to have to reflash the jdm ecu anyways right.

Yes you just plug and play the jdm ecu and run the wires for the avcs you will have to get it detuned "reflashed". But if you just want to save some money right now just run your wrx ecu but you will have to use the cam sensor off of you wrx motor. It tells you all about that in the Element link.
shwoop_soobie 08-23-2006, 09:52 PM so it looks like the motor WILL be for sale, probly pretty cheap too. we may try to make it up there this weekend, but nothings for sure.
sooo, anybody want an sti engine?
shemoves 08-24-2006, 01:30 AM I hope that stuff was not from a stolen car.

There was some sort of discussion about this swap on the local board, and it sounded a bit shady, since the comany is called california swappers, based in colorado. I hope it wors out for ya! im sure it will!

It could be, you never know. Atleast it is going to someone that will appreciate it.
I will make sure to get this guy on the phone and have a good talk with him before we make the trip up there.
Atleast we get to look at it in person and pay in person. If I dont feel right about the transaction then we wont do it.

If its the one Im thinkin of, on RS25, then its nothing, people were just curious about the name. I personally have never heard of that company. At least you get to meet them in person before handing over the cash.

shwoop_soobie 08-28-2006, 10:03 AM well, we are back from denver, talk about a longgg drive. 18 hours, 500 dollars worth of diesel fuel, and a serious cramped back later, we have an sti engine. i dont even know what going to happen to it just yet but, we defently have it so thats a start...
John2.5RS 08-29-2006, 12:11 AM LOL, the guy you bought that engine from was still selling it after you had it! he almost scammed some guy on e-bay.
