you can use a wrx ecu you just wont have AVCS you have to have a jdm or the sti ecu to run it

Does the 04sti ecu have the same plugs and pinouts as the wrx ecu? Seems like I would have to have sti car harness to use that ecu.

no the us is 4plug, wrx/jdm 5plug. You are going to need to swap off the cam sensors also.

Yup, that is where I got that info. Seems pretty straightforward.

Anybody think of any other problems I will run into or what I need to buy. I am going to get a neetronics dccd controller. I am looking into buying rear axles with r180 inner cv and the old outer cv axle so I do not have to get new hubs and brakes. If I can not source those I will put a new ring and pinion in the rear. Do the front axles match up?

I am not going to have to much money to play with after this so Hydra is out of the question. This is why I was wanting to run my wrx ecu without avcs. I am going to have to reflash the jdm ecu anyways right.

Yes you just plug and play the jdm ecu and run the wires for the avcs you will have to get it detuned "reflashed". But if you just want to save some money right now just run your wrx ecu but you will have to use the cam sensor off of you wrx motor. It tells you all about that in the Element link.

so it looks like the motor WILL be for sale, probly pretty cheap too. we may try to make it up there this weekend, but nothings for sure.

well, we are back from denver, talk about a longgg drive. 18 hours, 500 dollars worth of diesel fuel, and a serious cramped back later, we have an sti engine. i dont even know what going to happen to it just yet but, we defently have it so thats a start...
