Anyone have something or know of something? txl146 09-08-2006, 11:17 AM I've had two miatas in the last two years. You shouldn't have problem buying one for under $3k. I will never use Miata as a winter car though... mgsm666 09-08-2006, 11:26 AM As a winter car?? you must have lost your mind in the heat...unless your planning on filling the trunk with cement! ~Jesse lotusTT 09-08-2006, 11:29 AM I'm pretty sure just about anything will beat an S54 BMW M coupe in the snow, so it may not be perfect but its a step up at least. TreeSki 09-08-2006, 01:34 PM they are starting to pop up on craigslist now as the summer ends and people are looking to get rid of them. i just picked up a '93 for $1400 with 135k miles on it. runs great, body is in ok shape and the only real need is some suspension work... fuzzymemory 09-08-2006, 04:53 PM Does your M have traction control? A set of winter tires & traction control may be better than a miata. If you are looking in the 3k price range, there are plenty of good FWD and AWD options... VWs, Hondas, Toyotas, Subarus... The M may be better than other RWD cars because it's ballanced well and has a stiff frame. Still AWD/FWD > RWD (with or w/o traction control) when you are driving in New England winters. Trust me (and everyone else here) paultg 09-08-2006, 05:01 PM As a winter car?? you must have lost your mind in the heat...unless your planning on filling the trunk with cement! ~Jesse ^This guy knows what he is talking about. For $3K buy a cheap used FWD corrolla or something. Snowphun 09-08-2006, 06:00 PM Does your M have traction control? A set of winter tires & traction control may be better than a miata. Trust me (and everyone else here) A 315hp M with BMW's meager traction control and 245 rear tires is far worse than a 110hp Miata in the snow. Skinny cheap snows and the Miata will do quite well, though they squeek and rattle like mad in the cold. Still not the best choice though. ubasu 09-17-2006, 12:37 PM ive got one in dover mass that my parents want me to get rid of in dover ma. its 1990 with a craptacular black paint job and a small oil leak (not sure where its leaking havnt looked at it yet.) other wise it has had alot of maintence done timing belt etc. if your interested pm me. |
