Ok, so my buddy has an 02 WRX and he did the JDM tail light mod, and he was telling me about the 04-05 JDM tail light mod and how when youre just driving only the circle light is on. Is that true or possible, and if so how do I do it?

Turn your lights on. Walk to the back of the car. Unplug the one that is on and move it to where the circle is. Put the one from the circle spot in the other hole. On mine in particular I had to get a different bulb for one cause it was staying on also. Yours may be different.

I did everything 00Maddog said and got great results. No cutting or anything like that.

A few questions:

1. Is this legal in PA?

2. Can I expect damaged bulbs due to the wrong power or overuse of a bulb that wasn't meant to be used so much?

3. Aside from very inexpensive lightbulbs, might this void other parts of my warranty like the electrical system?

I notice something. After the mod the cirular light dont get brighter when the brakes are stepped on.

it doesn't get brighter b/c that used to be the light that just stayed on when you turned the lights on. It's not the one that actually turns on when you hit the brakes. Meaning, it's not a dual filament bulb, and you don't have to extra electrical connections to make it work with a dual filament bulb.

btw, if you only have the round light on at night, it's pretty much impossible for someone to see it from the side. might be a good idea to keep the corner light on the back on as well.

Just thought I'd add my .2 cents. :p

As for is it legal in PA? I don't know because I don't live their, google it for more info or ask the guys in your chapter.
I've had mine like this for a while and no damage to the bulb or ports. I can't see this being a problem any more than a new radio or in dash tv/navigation, warranty wise.

And again, there are many different ways to do this, SOME INVOLVE CUTTING AND SOLDERING, but this way does not. If you like it cool, if not.....cool.
