View Full Version : I saw the STi Limited today.
p8baller07 09-10-2006, 09:25 PM It was sex on 4 wheels. At renick
The guy who was total bull****, said they thought there was gonna be 400 gray / 400 whites...
But turns out theres only gonna be about 81 Whites.
They already sold the two they had.
BigElm 09-10-2006, 09:32 PM Awww... that's nice  but it doesn't belong in the N&R forum...

Is Subaru making 400/400 right off the bat, or filling orders for colors as they come in?
volkl23 09-11-2006, 02:32 AM I'm guess right off the bat. 800 is not a lot.

senortighto 09-11-2006, 03:29 AM the guys at renick are a holes, i was there today too, trying to buy an STI, and they sucked, but that is another story...
the limited did look pretty nice, but leather is so meh. the black interior was quite nice too. but all that luxo crap is just that, crap.
Dynobyte 09-11-2006, 03:35 AM yup, 81 whites and 719 greys. yeah.
One time I was talking to a salesman and I asked him all about the v6 in the outback. he said yes, the v6 was great in teh outback. then I asked him about the muffler bearings, were they improved? he said yes they were.

That's nothing, when we bought the wifeys LGT we went through the internet salse manager. He was a salesman first and knew his stuff, he actually sold me my WRX. So he was going to be gone when we came in so he set us up to talk to one of the salesman there, the deal was already done, we just needed to put it on paper so it was no biggie. So while we're giving the luxo-missle the once over, out of the blue he says...
"Yep and that's a true dual exhaust as well."
I say "Ohh really, so is it twin turbos?"
And he replies "sure is."

06STIGO13 09-11-2006, 09:07 AM I went by Miller Subaru here in Mount Holly NJ, to look at the Forester they had in Urban Grey Metallic, and when the salesman asked if he could help I told him, "no, I have an STI Ltd on order and just wanted to see the color I picked in person." His reply was," oh, well you know they reduced the HP to 293 on the 07 and you can't get them with the spoiler anymore!" I said really??? He then offered to make me a great deal on one of the three standard 06 STI's he has in stock... his great deal was MSRP. No thanks I said...
As a rule, I do not listen to sales people unless I know that they know more than me. So that means I have not yet listened to a salesperson. When I ordered my CGM '05 STi, I got one of the first off the boats, and I ordered it so early that the salesperson did not know CGM was a color. (Or that '05s would have a radio, wider wheels, etc.) I told them I wanted CGM, and they looked at me like,. I laughed and said, "just write it down."
Beaverboy 09-11-2006, 09:49 AM Not according to that Salesman. Which is why i put it in the rumors section.
Then you were in the correct forum, but you missed the sticky at the top.;)
Cabal 09-11-2006, 10:58 AM So who got 007?
I was lucky.... one of the salesmen I talked to (not my direct one) was an STi driver. He talked to me for a while before I made my purchase. Gave me some good ideas on mods and everything, heh. It was a lazy Sunday when I got it so it's not like they were busy.
It's funny how that salesman knew about the production numbers. He must know more than the "actual" Subaru STi website that announced 400/400. He sounds like he is just a !@#$ing shark.... saying something to try to get you to make a purchase there and now.
chaddeus 09-11-2006, 12:38 PM Your question should be directed to the engineers. I doubt even the manager might know it. So for a more technical question, I'll be smart not to ask the sales person.

That'll be the real winner. It'll probably be someone who doesn't understand or care about the significance though... :(
fastwrx006 09-11-2006, 05:50 PM Whats the big deal about this car anyways, it's just another sti.
If it came with a 18g or 20g stock I could see why everyone is going crazy over it.

Here we go again....
If you're gonna be like that then:
What's the big deal with the Escalade, it's just a Tahoe with bling.
What's the big deal with the Navigator, it's just an Expidition with bling.
This can go on and on and on. It's all in what people want, and what the manufacturers know they can sell.

Seriously though it's just another 06 sti to me with no over sized wing. What makes it so special/different than the 06's? It's just a lame gimic by subaru.

then you're a lame gimic by your mom
what makes you so different then every other person on this planet?

Crude, but effective.
What amarpauld so eloquently put was true. Yes, it is a "lame" gimmick (NASIOC has added spellcheck BTW) by Subaru. So is offering the World Rally eXperimental vehicle that you have come to love. So was offering the 2.5L in the STi when JDM and all rally classes limited the car to 2.0L.
I have a news flash for people like you. Subaru likes to sell cars. They don't want to be the cool kid in school, they want to sell cars and will do anything they can to do that that doesn't compromise their integrity. Offering a car that is a more mature version of their cartoonish rendering of the rally car that it isn't is just a smart marketing move. Make it classier, and the people that HAVE the extra few grand to spend on it will do just that. Then, go one step further and make it LIMITED to 800 units and enthusiast and status-minded people will jump at it. Makes a lot of sense to me when I think about it.
03bluwrx 09-11-2006, 09:42 PM Who cares? Who has 555?
alright, im going to show my subie nubieness here...... whats the story behind 555?
They should of upped the horsepower instead of downing it reguardless of what 'classier' style they were going for. Stick shift also isn't very luxurious so why not have an auto for this type of LTD sti? They're just bringing in saps who will pay the extra for a special number ranging from 1-800.
M!key 09-11-2006, 10:04 PM you need to up your medication. the lower number is because of the new way that they are measuring horsepower.

I posted enough? The fact that you take a stupid title like that seriously is just as bad as trying to make me look like some kind of anti-subaru demoter. Sorry as much as I love subs and know how good they are I'm not blind or stupid enough to see what they're doing which I don't condone either. Every car manuf. does this in some form or variation so whatever. I say if they can get people to fall for it then good for them.
BHawk 09-11-2006, 10:30 PM I know this is OT, but seriously for the last freaking time would somebody please get rid of the Title under the user names. Why do we need to call someone a specialist if they make x amount of posts? It's just stupid it doesn't tell you anything about their level of knowledge even though it sounds like it is supposed to!
P.S. Scooby Newbie is condescending and wrong, just because I am not a post whore doesn't make me a &*$#ing Newbie!
^^^
It's more of a reflection of your familiarity with the forums, not a reflection of your Subaru knowledge. A lot of gurus don't know anything, and a lot of newbies know more than gurus.

Sorry if I offend... I guess I just thought the title meant something... I was clearly wrong! As for Subaru making the STI Ltd for those who want it, myself included, I'm not sure what is wrong with a car manufacturer making a car that people obviosly want... I mean how many flavors of Coke, Pepsi, Dr. Pepper, etc. are there? What is wrong with 2 flavors of STI?

Nothing really- you're choice in how you wish to spend your money. My opinion though still stands that it's a piss poor way to do an LTD STi cause they're trying to make a non luxury car somehow luxury when honostly isn't possible in this case. Again it's just a leather interior STi without the big wing and less power for more the price- sorta like taking a bite out of an apple then marking up the price cause not many come that way if you ask me. If you so happen to like it regardless good for you, enjoy it.
06STIGO13 09-11-2006, 11:17 PM Except they aren't marked up... at least MSRP... they are the same price at the standard STI. And I wouldn't say Subaru is trying to make this a Luxary version of the STI rather a more adult version, minus the blue interior and the big ricer wing that so many 30+ year old people just don't care for. I like many I've spoken with on this and other forums that like the STI Ltd don't want a replica race car.... we want a quick and nimble road going automobile that has a few creature comforts. I'm not sure why so many Subaru or STI owners have a problem with this... I hope this doesn't become an "us vs. them" thing where I go to a Subaru meet or pass another WRX/STI on the street and wave, like I always try to do, and get treated like I don't belong to the "family". I like being a Subaru owner becuase of the community that comes along with ownership. I really hope that doesn't change becuase I own a Limited.

You still don't get it though - the 07 STI has the same power as the 04, 05, and 06 STi. They did not lower the horsepower, it is the exact same. The difference is that the SAE changed the way horsepower is measured and this change results in lower HP numbers for every car sold in North America.
But it sounds lower! '04-'06 owners will still say their cars have 300 HP, while '07 owners will have to say 293. :alien:
Civic2Subie 09-12-2006, 07:46 AM My dad's a 55 year old doctor who has wanted an STI for a while but didn't like the "pocket-rocket" looks of the big spoiler and blue seats. Makes sense that a man his age and in his profession doesn't want to roll up to the hospital parking lot full of BMW's, Porsche's, Acura's, and other luxury cars driving a vehicle that could be mistaken as a rice-boy car. Makes sense to me anyway. Well, as soon as he found out about the LTD he went to the dealership and put his name on the list!! So Subaru got his money that might have gone elsewhere, good marketing in my book. If you don't want to spend the extra money, then don't, but don't hate on Subaru for wanting to stay in business and reach out to new customers.

Thank you... I'm not 55 but for the same reasons as you dad I want an 07 STI Ltd... and in fact I did the exact same thing! As soon as I heard about the Limited and could place an order I went to the dealership to place my order! And I agree, the STI Ltd can sit next to BMWs, Porshes, etc. and not look out of place... like a Honda civic with a big wing and bondo body parts!
vapore0n 09-12-2006, 09:43 AM But it sounds lower! '04-'06 owners will still say their cars have 300 HP, while '07 owners will have to say 293. :alien:
actually, its not the HP that got lowered, its the way its measured now.
So we all would have the same 293.
SOA should have pumped up those 7hp to give it the even 300

This sort of ignorance can get pretty annoying.
rjundi 09-12-2006, 10:30 AM I have one question about the STI. Has the sound insulation level increased in it or is it as loud as the previous iterations?
squashman 09-12-2006, 11:27 AM ^^Thicker carpet, more insulation - but only in LTD. Regular STI unchanged.
p8baller07 09-12-2006, 07:01 PM Yeah that salesman was bs, i said it in my first post. I didn't believe him, i'm just pointing out thats what he said.
