Hung out at Z1 for a couple of hours on Tuesday night while they installed an uppipe and samco hoses. Big thanks to the crew at Z1. Definately recommend these guys. If you do decide to go up there, bring your self-control. They have lots and lots of expensive toys, and you will be tempted to buy them all.

Just came home to find my package from Z1. Well packaged, and delivered fast and on time. When I called, Adam was very helpfull and answered a whole bunch of questions on other things that I'm interested in getting. I'll definitely be a repeat customer. :) Thanks Adam!

My $0.02...

Got in on the first Morrette GB, got my product as ordered, and when he said it would be there, and a baseball hat to boot. :D

Just got my short-throw from Z1.

I went to install it into my WRX last night; smacked it into the seat and tried to bolt it onto the shifter bracket. Strange, the new shifter pivot is almost 1/4 inch narrower than OEM and looked pretty small compared to the bracket. Had to put the longer stock metal cylinder through the pivot and stick washers on either side to fill the gap. I put silicone around the washers to prevent any rattle (too tight to rattle, but better safe than sorry) and the shifter finally fit snugly into the bracket.

The shifter is working BEAUTIFULLY and I am more than happy with it.

Z1 might want to think about shipping washers or extra-thick bushings with instructions if they are going to be sending shifters with narrow pivots.

Just my two cents.

Thanks for the heads up Paul - we didn't run into a problme as I recall on the few we did here, but I relayed your post back to our manufacturer anyway for good measure. If they issuie a revised part or something to that effect, I will have it sent out to you.

Just want to give Adam some props here.

I have been waiting on my JIC order since about mid January or so... I've been here ranting about it forever so maybe a couple of you will remember. Anyway, since I had to wait so long he's tossing in a Cusco Type 2 front underbrace for free...

Thanks Adam.

Z1's service is first class.
I blew an intercooler hose and needed one fast. I called Adam in the late afternoon and asked him to overnight me some Samco hoses. They were at my door by noon the next day!
Thanks!

I posted my experience elsewhere, but figured such service can't be extolled enough. :)

Like John, I also had the Tein Flex's w/EDFC sourced and installed by Adam and Gerry at Z-1. Great turnaround, clean install and most imnportantly the desire to make sure I was happy and satisfied every step of the way. Anyone can sell product...less at a good price....and less still on short notice. Adam and Z-1 are among the few that achieve the above with tremendous product knowledge (the man can read Japanese, and no, he ain't asian :p ) and the experience to make useful recommendations and the skill to install these same products.

FYI, I also had the stainless brake lines, Samco intercooler hoses, Prodrive exhaust and a tranny cooler installed as well - all great prices and installs. Next are gauges and a way too $$ boost controller (but the price was my fault - too eager for gadgets - not Adams!).

i wrote that on tuesday night, the day i got my car(alignment was still needed to be done) i said that because i didnt expect my alignment being done to be such a big deal.
well aside from it being sunday and my alignment still being off(or was, it was fixed by me and a friend) upon me taking my wheels off (werent torqued!)i found my camber bolts, brake hoses uninstalled (you fixed the abs sensor wire that was loose on wednesday when it began to *clunk* due to it being loose-it wassnt the brake line) the things that lock the adjustments (those green rings) were loose. i didnt want to do this but it didnt turn out the way i wanted it to go, i tried to look past the:
1 ride height being lower than i asked
2 car not being totaly finished tuesday afternoon especially after it was known its a problem to get the work done for my schedule
3 car had a clunking sound due to the top bolts being loose(along with every other bolt)

when i brought it back i was told it was like that because you expected my car in the morning... so thats why my brake hose was off? at school(i go to a tech school) i brought up what happened and heres what a guy from bmw and nissian said "thats just an excuse for why it was all loose"
i told you i wanted a place i can feele comfortable going to, i told you i would be back for more if this went well, but jeeze i could have died if:
1 the brake line rubed on the tire burning a hole in it casing me to have no brake
2 have a blow out because of my really negative camber
3 having the bolts that hold the coil over to the spindle assemble thingy come loose causing my tire to fall when i was driving

I tried to work with your schedule- i took off school expecting my alignment to be done friday morning, u were closed then and were in the afternoon- i work in a service business too, if we screw up (rarely) we fix what we broke- i was doing a run around for service

10 miles to your place, i could have been a good customer

Yeah, we just worked on his car and

-top mount bolts loose
-both lower strut/knuckle bolts were tightened to about 20 ft lbs
-speed sensor bolt less than hand tight
-brake line bolt wasn't even in, it required about 10 turns just to snug it down
-strut body height adjuster was completely loose
-camber bolts in rear set to max negative camber, so it was at about -5 deg

It wasn't hard to fix, but I couldn't believe he didn't die just driving to my place on that. I hope that this is an anomaly... people ordering via mail order from Z1 seem to be happy, and they did a great job installing my EGT probe. But Yaz's car was just unacceptable & downright dangerous. Plus there's the few hundred bucks in labor charge. :( I really can't comprehend why every bolt on the car was completely loose.

rather than the rather longish answer I originally posted, I'll just say this:

We tried as hard as possible to work around John's l;imited time schedule. He goes to school during the day, and needs the car to go back and forth from it. He also did not want to leave the car overnight, as he didn't want his father to know what work was being done.

And to clear up a few things:

1. this is the first time I am hearing that the ride height was differetn from what you had asked for.

2. Brake lines are not removed or loosened when doing suspension mods...if your hose fittings were loose after, they were loose before.

3. You were going to tell me if you were coming Friday AM...you never did, so we weren't there before 9:30.

Although he told us that he planned on doing the alignment the very next afternoon, we should not have relied on that - we should have either insisted that we have the aligment done, regardless of the impediments to his time schedule, or we should have not done the install at all.

This is now the policy we have: All coilover installs require an alignment to be done by Z-1, which mandates the car staying in the shop overnight.

Sorry for any inconvenience this may casue in the future, but I think it really is the best policy to ensure the best service for our customers

I hope by now everyone knows that Z1 has the best service around, but just in case ya don't here's some more praise.

1) They answered my long list of questions about each part VERY quickly, with good info.

2) Extremely helpfull and friendly.

3) Excellent Pricing

4) Quick shipment - and I ordered a bunch of stuff which came to them at different times...they shipped it all out as it came in.

Remember they have a lot more than what's currently on their web site, but they're working on that. In the future I plan on getting everything I can from these guys...they're the best vendor out.
