There is, btw, a very slight change. The rear drop (on a non-STi WRX) has gone from 1.0" to just a tiny hair over 0.9".... so a very very small difference of less than 2.5 mm but this evens out the appearance of the Impreza's stance just enough that your eye can catch it and it also makes our springs just that much better for the wagon guys!!!... despite about 30% of our 100% satisfied customers being wagon owners already ... you read that right! 30% of the time it works... every time ;).

All orders have shipped! My apologies for the weird boxes; we're still waiting on the correct spring boxes from Germany

...and....riiiight... pictures of the full set. One of these days

Check the reviews, check the pictures! If you're considering JDM STI Pinks, these blow the doors off of those!... and for less $$$ with a nicer drop and a lifetime warranty :D

Wow how about a SUPER overdue bump for this thread!!!..... these springs have been selling very well and have been getting REALLY great reviews! We've had customers go from just about every other aftermarket spring available, go from JDM STi Pinks, and go from nice coilover setups and every single last one of them has said that our springs outhandle and outrespond the other ones and ride better. I hate sounding like a salesperson, but we're so very happy with these springs that I am not even hesitant to say that they're the best springs on the market.... because they are. Try them, you'll love them!

I'm just curious. On your quoted spring rates, being the springs are progressive are those rates at the beginning of compression or near the end?

Crucial Racing
03-08-2007, 06:46 PM
How progressive rates work isn't how most people assume. When the car is just sitting there, the 'progressive' portion of the spring rates is like 99% compressed. It's not designed to make compression softer, but, rather, rebound... and the ride is hugely better (and it's nicer to your struts) because of that less agressive rebound. The rates quoted are the 'final' rates.

A lot of people think that progressive springs mean a bit of body roll before the stiff rates come into play or that response, etc, wont be as good as linear. That's really not the case. There's maybe 1/8" of "soft" compression before the final rate is hit. Response, grip, and body roll are the same as linear springs (or so very close to the same that it's impossible to tell unless you're a professional driver on a track and can compare immediately back-to-back).

Good progressive springs are a lot harder and more expensive to make, which I think is the primary reason there are a lot of linear ones out there. For a dedicated track car with highly adjustable strut dampening, linear makes sense... but otherwise progressive really gives up nothing at all and adds quite a bit of civility and gets rid of a heck of a lot of ride harshness and you'll never experience bounciness (unless your struts are completely shot, of course).

^^^ it's one of the differences between our springs and the JDM STi Pinks. Same rates, but the pinks are linear front and progressive rear. A lot of people complain about bounciness w/ the pinks, and ours have NONE of that, despite the rates being the same. They also ride a heck of a lot smoother than the pinks. It's all in -- well a couple things -- 1) progressive both front and rear 2) progressive rates done RIGHT 3) higher quality metal composition 4) a bit more even of a stance.

There's just enough 'soft' travel on the progressive rates to make the ride quieter and smoother than even the stock springs on asphalt... takes out small vibrations and really small seams and whatnot. Hit a seam or whatever that's like 1/4" or larger and you'll feel it though... not in the bad way, but communicated right through the wheel because that's more compression than the 'soft' part of the springs allows for. The reduction in noise and high frequency vibration is something that's really a nice surprise for a lot of our customers :)

Hope it helps.

I was debating prodrives or RCE. Never heard of these but now i might have to take a look at these. Im looking for the most comfortable setup it looks like it might be these or prodrives.

question?

I have an 06 wrx with 04 sti struts and top hats

will my car be the wrx height or the sti height? Or is it just that the sti is lower from the factory. The numbers below are quite a bit of difference.

Drop front: 1.25" on WRX, 12.5 mm = .5" on STi
Drop Rear: 0.9" on WRX, 9.0 mm = .354" on STi.

thanks.

If you're looking for the most comfortable setup possible these probably aren't the springs for you. They're shockingly comfortable considering the spring rates, but these are very stiff springs... some of the stiffer springs on the market, actually. They're done very well and a lot of people say the ride is nicer than stock STI, but they're still performance-oriented springs (i.e. performance was, by a good margin, our #1 design concern). You might want to look for something softer like Eibach Pro-Kit or Progress' springs if comfort is your main goal.

It's just because the STI is lower from the factory. If you put a stock STI suspension on a WRX, it lowers it by approximately the differences that we quote for our drops. Either way, the car ends up at the exact same height off the ground with the same wheel well gaps, etc, no matter how much lowering it takes to get there. So your car will be at the WRX height and the STi height, because they're the same :p

Hahaha. Sorry we flooded our coater with a huge batch of uppipes and a whole heck of a lot of other stuff (like 7 turbos, 7 headers, a couple downpipes, a couple intercoolers, intercooler piping, manifolds, etc) and they're behind schedule now. I was hoping to pick them up yesterday but they weren't done. Looks like it's going to be next week -- I'm guessing Wednesday -- when I drive down there again and pick up the uppipes.

Don't worry, there will be a post(s) on here, WRXFanatics, and the website will be updated. We're also sending an email to the people who requested one when they were back in stock :)

Soon, soon!

We may, but for now we only have '04+ ones. When we first made them, there was a MUCH larger demand for 04+ than bugeye fitment and because of the quantity we run, one or the other fitment had to be chosen...

It's a good excuse to upgrade to GroupN mounts though :p

i assume these springs would match up with the ohlins struts very nicely?

Crucial Racing
06-26-2007, 04:49 PM
Oh I'm sure it'd be awesome. Normally we recommend the Konis because the performance, quality, adjustability, etc on them is flat-out amazing and we do them for $600 shipped, which just over 1/3 of the Ohlins price. If you have the $$$ for the Ohlins though and really feel that it will be worth it over the Konis (and unfortunately I have not driven a car w/ the Ohlins struts and our springs and cannot make a direct comparison) I have no doubt they would be great.
