================================================== =====================

Because I agree with V6TurboTA about how worthless a few of the posts are in the Proven Power section I'm creating this thread BEFORE I even have my results and before I even have the parts! rAwLz

I have yet to see before-and-after numbers for the cheap eBay TMICs so I've bought one [used] and I'll be getting tunNed with it installed October 14th provided it actually arrives, isn't damaged, and fits.

My current mods are very basic:
VF22
pinks
walbro 255lph
3" turbo back + gutted up-pipe
XEDE piggy-back computer

The main reason I was going to the dyno again was because the XEDE wouldn't give me enough boost so I'll be tossing in a different bleeder pill (that I probably need to research) so I can obtain more boost. Other than that, just the TMIC is going to be changed.

See you guys in 2 weeks! :D

what good will the comparison be once you up the boost?

Yea upping boost pretty much throws a HUGE variable int he mix and taints the test. Do a comparison run before/after IC.. THEN change the boost pill

Well atleast you will be able to see if the tmic is holding boost. My car is also getting tuned with a vf22 and ebay tmic. Might be done by the time you have yours done. I'll have to remember to come back to this thread and check you out.

Changing the intercooler is fairly easy. Why don't you up the boost with the stock intercooler, make some pulls, then change it and see how much power you gain?

This thread fails to deliver.

what good will the comparison be once you up the boost?ok, glad you brought that up. To clarify, my pump gas tune will most likely be using the same amount of boost while my race gas tune will be using more this time around; that is because when tuning for 110 the tuner upped the boost but the boost values in the XEDE became maxed so he couldn't add any more so now I need to get a different bleeder tube (or something). I figure that the pump (93 octane) numbers are the most important to everyone anyway.

Hope that answers that question.

detonation limits of pump gas witha stock tmic and ebay tmic unless he run's out of fuel.

otherwise he should keep boost the same on both and let it eat

bump for updateok, I got lazy. :)
Some may like this info, some won't! :)

I gained 3WHP! I had a previous pump and race tune and was originally going to get the race gas tune optimized but decided to throw the TMIC in. My tuner didn't necessarily tune for the TMIC but just made minor adjustments to the pump map to ensure the car functioned properly. My tuner is an amateur that doesn't like to go hard on pump gas tunes so I'm running on the exact timing that's in the Vishnu Stage2 base map. ;) The car does although feel stronger on the road so I'd say that the IC is doing it's job. GIMME MORE TIMMING SETH!@# ;) I can't yet afford to put down for a new motor so I'll just leave it at that. :)

On race gas I did although pick up some more power. I couldn't make much boost so the tuner added timing instead. My pre-TMIC tunes were pump 250WHP and race 264WHP; the race gas tune is now 277WHP on a Dyno Dynamics dyno. That might be ~310WHP on a Dynojet. Seems to me like the TMIC is doing its job.

I wish I could've gotten you guys some stronger pump gas numbers to prove that this cheap TMIC is well worth it but after using it for a couple weeks I'd say it's working just as well as an expensive unit. I think if you want ease of installation, get a namebrand part but if you don't mind putting a little thought into it, the eBay hunk should work fine.

Here are all graphs from my old tune and the new tune:

AS FOR FITMENT! I've got an '03 WRX, it fit ok except that I think with a little modification to either one of the mounting brackets (attached to the motor) it would fit perfect (on the '03). I used a 3X2.75 TB hose to make it work for now. When I get some time with a drill press I might have a go at it.

No way dude, all Dyno-Dynamics dynos read like Dynojets now!!! New software!!!

^^^^^^

But seriously, I agree. 278whp on that dyno is stout for a vf22 on an ej205. Need to wait for another cold arse Friday night and see what she does at the local 1/8th mile strip
