Hey guys,
Does anybody have any experience using the Cobb AP maps in cold weather?
I live in Canada, and of course it gets extremely cold up here, about -20F can be average for a couple winter months.
Now, am I safe to use the "fuel economy" map in cold weather? I think the lack of boost will help with traction, and of course you can only go so fast in the winter.
Am I safe to run the "married stock mode" as well? Is this identical to stock, or should I unmarry the AP for the winter?
Thanks in advance

No worries... as far as i'm concerened. Had my AP for 2 winters and no trouble at all. I do switch over to using 91 from 94 for easy'r starting, but other than that it's been great. :)

don't use the economy map in the winter time for better traction.. i would personally stay away from the econo map, runs advanced timing and if you happen to have to get on it for any reason you could risk detonatino.
Stick with whatever map you are staged for, our cars have compensation tables for cold weather....even though it's a cobb map, it still utilizes the OEM compensation tables.

It has been my experience that the stock "Wastegate Duty Cycle Temperature Compensation" table is not adequate for my exhaust such that when it gets really cold, I would get poorly controlled rising boost. Simply plumping up that table (with streettuner) so that it pulls a lot more WGDC at lower temps solved the problem for me.
Oh yeah, it should be noted: The OTS cobb maps utilize the stock values in that table.
Now, am I safe to use the "fuel economy" map in cold weather? I think the lack of boost will help with traction, and of course you can only go so fast in the winter.Your right foot has all the ability you need to prevent traction loss.

No problems here! Didn't get that cold last winter though...that was on my Cobb OTS map. This winter I've got a ProTune behind me, wonder if it will be any different? I'm already getting better fuel economy after the ProTune!
And don't run econo...

I had boost spiking/hunting problems with my Stage 2 WRX when I went back to Montana and had really cold weather.
Sounds like you need ST to solve the problem :(

I'd like to know if anyone has found a hardware fix for the OTS maps with the boost hunting. For me the boost us unsettled for anything in between 5 and 12psi anything above or below that range is OK it's solid.
I've tried loosening the WG arm, and it does absolutely nothing.
I'll try different size of adaptors on the line to the FBC, maybe 3/16 maybe something smaller.
I would agree that a protune is best, but since I'm in Ottawa I'll have to either drive to Toronto or Montreal to find a tuner.
Cheers,
Mike
