I just got my hands on a jdm ver.8 gauge cluster. I wanted to install it in my 03 wrx. I've been looking online to see if it is a simple plug and play install. But i'm not sure if it is because I've seen other peoples dilemas with the install ie. cut the b28 wire, fog lights dont work, radio doesnt work... Is there a wire that is supposed to be cut? If so then what wire is it? What is the correct way to install it?

Ver8 STI cluster is PnP with 02-03 wrx. Since the Radio fuse's capacity is lower in the 02-03 wrx than the 04-05 STI, when you install it on the wrx the fuse will blow. You need to cut B28 wire (B= middle wire harness) so that the radio fuse wont blow. You can look up the color code for the B28 wire which has been posted in multiple threads.

Everything else will work just fine. I had a Ver8 Cluster (04 version which actually has a different sized green connector for the gas / temp, with 2 extra pins, than the 05 version even though they are both called Ver8) and my friend and I installed this on his 02 wrx, cut the B28 wire and everything else worked OEM (with the exception of the obvious DCCD and the rear Diff Temp)
