alright heres the deal.......ive got a 1999 2.5rs with about 72k on it now....i bought it about 4 months ago with 62k on it. i am not to entirely happy about the amount of miles on my car... im thinking engine swap but im not sure....i have a freind at the dealership who said he can get me a used WRX engine with 33k on it for about $3,300 plus installation. i have heard of the swap being done before but no one has gone into detail about the swap installation being costly and if it is a direct bolt on process for the most part other then wireing.... any suggestions as to what i should do ? does anyone know if it actually is a fairly easy process to install it and is it worth it.
thanks for your help::confused:

Do a search. Yes it is possible. The cost of the powertrain bits is just the beginning, the biggest problem is the wiring harness. The quote that I got from RalliSpec was anywhere from $2500 to $4000+ depending on the amount of "custom" stuff was required.

Is that an '02 USDM WRX engine? If so some of the things in my post above may not apply.

Why spend all that money just to lose 40K miles from the engine? And 33K on a WRX motor is a lot, since they were only available in the US since March (assuming USDM WRX motor). If you've put 10K miles on your car in 4 months, you're not gaining much additional longetivity. Of course there is the power, but that didn't seem to be the reason for the swap.
70K miles, if it has been taken care of, isn't anything to worry about.
And if you can't find the swap info via search...
