View Full Version : 2800lbs!
wistful 11-06-2001, 12:16 AM I dunno if this has been posted before, but gosh darn it I'll post it again! My friend pointed out an open gravel scale, so I thought what the hey!
Car + 1/8 tank of gas + spares + miscellanous daily driver junk = 2800 lbs. Keep in mind the digiscale goes in increments of 20. I weigh about 130, and me in the car read 2920. so.. 2800/170 (intake/exhaust) = 16.47lbs/hp. not too shabby!

Longshot 11-08-2001, 12:55 AM Hehe.. now throw in some aluminum parts and no daily driver junk ;)

SoobATV 11-08-2001, 03:24 AM now, CF hood, strip that interior, some lightwieght rims... hehehe!!!!!
Sorry, I've stopped salivating now...
Iowannaski 11-08-2001, 12:13 PM Isn't that about what is says on the doorframe?
Eric SS 11-09-2001, 03:09 AM That's pretty good. my car with me in it and 1/2 tank of gas weighed in at 3,050lbs. or so on the corner scales
Eric
Julian 11-09-2001, 11:08 AM Weighed my RS last night. 1720 on the front, 1280 on the rear, 3000 pounds even (give or take 40), with me and 1/4 tank o' dino juice. I need to be a back-seat driver.
wistful 11-09-2001, 01:24 PM Good lord! I didn't know the weight distribution of our car was THAT bad. hmm.. I am gonna have to do something about that. MUAHAHAHa.
Don
Iowannaski 11-09-2001, 01:26 PM dood, that's 57/43. that's not really too bad.
Iowannaski 11-09-2001, 01:29 PM of course, don't let me dissuade from improving those numbers.
cf hood + battery to rear = 1660/1320
subachad 11-09-2001, 07:44 PM Mine weighed in at 2730 with the sterio, spare tire, 1/8th tank of gas, tow hitch, tools, and some other stuff

ImprezaRS dot com 11-10-2001, 02:04 AM Mine weighed 2804 with 1679 front and 1125 rear.
In front it was 840 was left and 839 right. The rear was 539 left and 586 right.
With 233 to the wheels at 10 psi with a cracked #4 piston = 12.0 lbs/hp at wheels - Adjusting for crank HP at 315 = 8.9 lbs/hp
Is that good?
Larry
Eric SS 11-10-2001, 03:06 AM not bad. The DEFINING factor in the handling of a car (as far as weight is concerned) is the cross weights. In other words, you want the Left front + right rear to be as close as possible to the right front + left rear.
I forgot my four corners but after a lot of trying I got my cross weights within 6lbs. of each other it's tough than you would think.
Eric
ImprezaRS dot com 11-10-2001, 03:09 PM Corner weighting the car was tough, first we aligned the car with me in it, for (-) 1.3 camber each side front and (-) 0.8 rear both sides. The rear camber was adjusted by altering ride height with the coil overs, since I didn't have camber bolts.
When it was all done, we took it to the scales at a national tour autocross and got the above results with me out of the car, which is about 2" lower than stock.
Larry
wistful 11-10-2001, 06:35 PM do you have to align with the person in the car? Does it make a difference?
Don
ImprezaRS dot com 11-10-2001, 10:49 PM It seeemed to give me an edge in autocrossing...

go go go 11-12-2001, 02:31 PM My 94 Impreza Wagon(supposed to be heavy) weighed 2518lb!
58.6:41.3 front to rear
corner weight data
723lb LF 753 lb RF
550lb LR 492lb RR
trick? my car is 2WD and it has fiberglass hood:D
I am having a AWD conversion next month and expecting to be heavier:(
wistful 11-12-2001, 10:40 PM Interestingly enough.. my roommate went back to the same scale, except he has a 98, and I have a 2000. His weighed in at 2760. He had half a tank of gas. BUT he had no rear seat, and no rear bumper. ANy suggestions to the difference? only thing I can think of is the rear LSD.
Don
Puckaveli 11-13-2001, 01:57 PM We always used to throw a heavy bag in the driver's seat when we would do alignments on performance cars. It depends on the weight of the car and the weight of the driver. If your car weighs 4000lbs then 200lbs in the driver's seat won't matter as much as 200lbs in the seat of a 2500 lb car. If your just aligning back to manufacturer specs it really isn't a big issue, but if your being very specific the it's a good idea to add your body weight to the seat.
jay25RS 11-13-2001, 10:06 PM Where can you get your car weighed? At the DMV?
