Just bought my 2004 STI. guy i bought it from upgraded the brake pads or lines, or both. Anyways, they've been squeaking since i bought the car, and he said the type of brakes that are on the car just make that squeak noise.

Now personally, i've always known squeaking brakes to be a bad thing.

If it really is the type of brakes that squeak, what can i do to make sure they wont squeak. It's starting to get annoying! Let me know. Thanks!

Try some less agressive pads. I talked to Stoptech today and the sell 25 different types for your car!
Squeaking brakes drive me crazy and make the car seem somehow cheap and neglected to others; they are the enemy.

i have the HPS hawk pads. they squeak a little when they are cold. try warming your pads up a bit and see if that makes the noise go away

could be hawk hp+ pads...they squeak all the time, as do most all fairly aggressive pads. hps pads will also squeak, when cold. the person you bought it from, couldn't tell you what pads he put in?

yeha he has before. hawk pads sound familiar. how do you warm them up? just get on em a couple times.

It seems when i slam on the brakes, they dont squeak. It's only when they're like half to 3/4's applied.

found out they're Pagid Blue pads... and they're made for fast stopping, and that's why they squeak at low speeds... who can recommend good brakes that last long and dont squeak?

So he pretty much has the wrong brake pads on for the street. But, Just because they squeak doesn't mean that they don't work. My Brembos squeak from time to time but they stop on a dime. Sometimes brakes squeak if the rotors were not sanded and cleaned properly when they were turned. It may help when you replace the pads to have someone that knows what they are doing turn your rotors .

http://www.stoptech.com/products/high_performance_pads.shtml i think you have stoptech calipers anyway... you should call them to get the correct pads instead of taking someone's word for it. that way you may be able to send them back if you have a problem. stay away from anything that says that it is for the track.

Squeeking brakes are pretty annoying...
But I like deafening people at stoplights.

Mine don't really squeek as much as howl, squeel and scream... Sometimes lound enough to hurt my ears, inside the car.
And I run HP+ which are pretty streetable.

I'd say pick up some Hawk HPS, they usually don't squeek all that bad, and you don't lose that much performance, mostly just heat/fade resistance.

ok. I have a radio, i just need an amp to play it! the guy who sold me the car took his sub/amp out. Oh well. I'll pick one up, then ignore the squeaking sound or pick up some new brakes.

i'm not planning on slamming on the brakes from 140mph or anything. I just want something with stopping power, that i'm currently used to, but without a huge defining squeak! haha.
