The poorly lit boost gauge in the factory gauge pack: I tried a search but came up with nada. Someone said this topic was covered already and there WAS a fix for it. Anyone, anyone?

Someone said this topic was covered already and there WAS a fix for it. Anyone, anyone? ANZAC_1915 11-06-2001, 10:57 PM Known issue with the OEM gauge pack. Subaru isn't taking any action that I am aware of. Suggest you try and get a refund from the dealer or work it out with them. Glenn Austin 11-07-2001, 01:47 AM I haven't heard of any fix for the boost guage backlight... Is there one? ANZAC_1915 11-07-2001, 01:40 PM It sounded to me it was a design issue - bulb placement. I doubt there is a fix. The whole setup - the hood and gauges looks very "home made" to me. As soon as I saw it at the Detroit show I knew I would not buy one. The DeFi/STi pod is MUCH nicer. Glenn gtguy 11-07-2001, 02:59 PM I just got the Subaru single boost gauge installed, and the light is just fine, IMHO. I like it a lot, for reasons previously stated: placement, fit, finish, sensitivity, etc. I didn't go with the pack because I would have lost the clock, which looks nicer in that position, and you take your eyes away from the action to check the gauge pod, vs. the single boost gauge, which is right there at the tach. Kevin Corpsie 11-07-2001, 03:00 PM As an alternative solution, check in the gauge pack thingy and see if you can mount an extra light (you can put a switch in one of the open slots to the left of the steering wheel) Austin 11-07-2001, 05:29 PM Originally posted by gtguy I just got the Subaru single boost gauge installed, and the light is just fine, IMHO. With the three guage pack, it's obvious that the boost guage doesn't appear as brightly lit as the other two, but it's still completely illuminated and readable in all conditions. glilly 11-07-2001, 06:56 PM Thanks for your replys. I think i'll just have to live with it. Actually, I was doing just fine until someone told me there was a fix. I might try to put another bulb in there and see what happens. Thanks |
