So after many months without my car, I now have it back, complete with a new engine. Basically in a nutshell, im running a 2.0 block with new pistons, arp rods and a STI 2.5 crank. Also went ahead and got a txs up/dp catless fitted to a HKS Hi-Power. Oh, and a txs mbc.

Question now is this, prior to all of this being done (can read original post here (http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1034617) ) I was running a Cobb Stg1 91oct. As of last night, I was running a custom tune from GT Motorsports In Rancho Cucamonga, CA. I have very high respect for the shop and am extremely satisfied with the work they did.

However lately, the past 2 weeks I've had my car running on the new tune, I found that the power was really weak. Now the dyno results only showed 220whp and 190tq. And not only that, but the car kinda does a little "jerky" thing when you go wot, its not till you get into the 6k power band that it smoothes out. The tuners told me that it was something to do with the way the car was boosting.

So last night, I decided to just chance it and switch to the Cobb Stg2 91oct. I was hesitant to do this to begin with since I have that 2.5 crank. I should also mention that about a month ago, I emailed Cobb and got an immediate response, they told me that I should be safe, but recommend a protune based off that map anyways. So upon the upload of the map, I started up the car and found that the power is very constant and smooth. Need to adjust the mbc to get a little more boost, but the power is great and no more herky jerky.

Anyone here think that it would be safe to stay on that tune or should I revert back. I know it would be wise to get another tune or possibly look into the ecutek, but funds are short right now.

Why would you change to Ecutek? Just get it re-pro-tuned by someone who knows what he's doing?

yea, well, it sounded to me that GTM can work wonders with the ecutek, but just started recently working with Cobb. If I do get it tuned, maybe take to harmon motive or something.

Stop trying to play shade tree tuner by map switching and futzing with a MBC. That is NOT how to keep your new pistons happy. Get a tune before you hole a new piston.

I was running the Cobb stg.2-93-HWG map and liked it. Then I decided to go to a 16G, modded injectors, Walbro, & Protune by Jon at TDC Tuning. My car has been doing that jerky thing from around 4k up ever since last Feb. when the tune was done. Jon say's there is a simple cure, but hasn't done anything about it yet. I may have to pick up a set of pinks, and try the 16G map that Christian came out with, or sell the A/P and go with Ecutek.

right to the point I see...yea, I think im gonna do that..as for the playing with the mbc, I haven't touched it and I don't think I will. Personally however, the car runs smoother now then it did before, A LOT smoother. Nonetheless though, once I've recooped from the re-build, a tune it is.
