View Full Version : a couple questions on 2 door 2.5 rs
rhman15 11-07-2001, 06:50 PM I was wondering if this car has much room, mostly headroom is a concern. I fit into a new impreza with two or three inches of room. And I want to know if insurance would be that bad, cause it is a coupe and I know that coupes are more. Thanks.
bratmantlz 11-07-2001, 06:55 PM i think it has plenty of room.
North Ursalia 11-07-2001, 07:15 PM Six foot two (perhaps a bit more) and I'm very comfortable in my RS coupe.

mrbell 11-07-2001, 09:02 PM actually, when I was buying my car I checked the insurance and they said it was the same for both the 4dr and 2dr... because they didn't even have a listing for the 2dr.
rhman15 11-07-2001, 09:38 PM thanks for the replies. Is insurance generally high on the imprezas or in the normal range or what?
Ripper_AWD 11-07-2001, 10:11 PM I am 6'2" and I have enough room.
Subie Gal 11-08-2001, 10:15 AM insurance on my Legacy GT was a bit less...
but i didnt get much of an increase when i got my 01 Coupe.
I have a questionable driving record ;) and for full coverage (towing, theft, etc.) i pay $600 a month.... so, very not bad!
(could be much worse!)
and FWIW, Glenn Wallace is 6'GIGANTIC (like 6'2 or 3" isnt it Glenn???) and he fit in the Coupe... he was pushing the limit tho!
He had to rallycross w/the sunroof open slightly so his helmet wouldnt bang into the roof
it's fairly roomy...
go have a test drive/sit in one if you can...

JGard 11-08-2001, 10:37 AM I'm 6'6" and I have plenty of headroom... Heck, I even fit OK with a helmet on.
leg room is fine, too... hell, if I move my seat back as far as it goes, I actually have too much room. the 4-door seemed to have a bit less leg room, though, which is why I went with the 2-door.
as for insurance, it's higher for me than my old RX-7, but that's also because I have full coverage now. But with a good driving record (one minor accident in 4 years), I was paying $2800 with a $500 deductable. I changed my deductable to $1000, and now it's $1600 a year...
Julian 11-08-2001, 11:45 AM It all depends on how you sit. In the MY02 cars, there is a huge bubble of headroom over the front seats (due to no sunroof). I fit in that car with inches to spare.
In my MY00, if my hair is too spikey, it'll rub the roof. I'm 6'1", but I also position my seat so that the back is pretty upright. If you click the seatback a couple notches, then you're fine, if you like that.
But then there are long-torso people, short-torso people...
As far as insurance, it's pretty low as long as your record is clean. It's really just a 165HP economy car, nothing too exciting for the insurance companies to get all worked up about.
mrbell 11-08-2001, 11:50 AM it is a 165hp economy car so it's not terrible, but I think insurance is above average for what it is. When I bought mine I compared it to the VW Jetta VR6 and the Civic Si for insurance and the Impreza was the highest...
4x4x4x5 11-08-2001, 12:44 PM lots of room, and easy to get out of also. insurance is just about the same as it was for my '99 Civic EX. I'm 48, clean record, in MD.
Darwin 11-08-2001, 03:16 PM Plenty of headroom. the broomstick doesm't seem to have a problem..
600/mo J? day-um. ^o.O^
Wedge 11-08-2001, 03:20 PM Remember that the 2 door RS isn't considered a Coupe. It is a Sedan. (Measured by interior space). Forgot where I read this but it's been discussed before. Too lazy to look it up. :D

Julian 11-08-2001, 03:21 PM I agree Wedge, however looking at your sig...:D
JGard 11-08-2001, 05:04 PM yeah, ditto on the "not a coupe" thing.
but I heard it was because coupes are generally in the style of hatchback's, which the Impreza most definitely is not :)
Yotsuya 11-08-2001, 05:22 PM Because of the sunroof's design, there is plenty of headroom. I didn't get an Si a year before because you had to do a gangsta laydown to fit, but the RS has plenty of space.
rhman15 11-08-2001, 07:08 PM I hit my head in a civic with a sunroof. I am asking because there isn't alot of them around here at all. I didn't know that it isn't considered a coupe. Thanks for replying
Iowannaski 11-08-2001, 07:43 PM That "not a coupe" stuff is bogus. I just spent the last hour on the DOT and NHSTA websites and every JF1GM* I found was refered to as a "2 door coupe"
Richard L. 11-08-2001, 09:53 PM MY00 dealer brochure and owner's manual both refer to the two door model as a coupe.
