That is the rumour I and a Friend shopping for one of these has been hearing. They are saying get them now after MY 07 there will be no more; atleast in current form.

Anyone know if it is true?

yah because they will be hard to get. The ones that arent sitting on dealer lots for the next 4.4 years will be picked up at Police Auctions. In DROVES.

Not sure if its 100 percent true, but one thing can be said there have been no rumors for a replacement or a revised model.

Thank GOD.

All three of those cars are tanks, and they're a danger on the roads. Especially the Town Car. Extremely poor handling + 4500lbs + 85 year olds with poor vision and reflexes = accidents.

The latest MT magazine states that the Town Car is going to be made along side the Crown Vic and Merc. They're shutting down the plant that it's currently being made in. Town Car is a bread winner for Ford and I don't think they'll be gettting rid of it anytime soon.

yah just look at all the Town Cars with Livery Tags. Not to mention the Charger has not yet replaced the Crown Vic. The Crown Vic still has a few years left. but IMO it has a foot in the grave.

it would make sense, with them bringing out the Ford 500. Why do they need 2 full size sedans?

The Crown Victoria is on its way out and the 5-0 is replacing it with the Chevy Impala...bad switch IMO the crown vic is kinda beast

I should go buy a police interceptor crown vic now :D

We are talking about Ford here. Logic seems to be missing from most of FoMoCo management's decisions.

Anyways, like was posted above, it is moving to amother plant and another platform - eventually. As much as it should go away, Ford will keep it around for a little while longer.

Porter,

My thought have always been elderly people in Buicks were the worlds worst drivers. It seems that no matter when, where and how I'm trying to go somewhere I always find that old person in a Buick screwing up the roadways.:furious:

Save your money........I have one that is issued to me and I drive it because I have to. It is way down on power and has decent braking for that size of a car.

So police will be driving Ford 500 AWD's next?

But I'm just wondering what all the limo's will be now.

the 500 is WAY too underpowered to be used as the replacement for the CVPI. The Charger's V6 makes as much HP/TQ as the current 4.6 lt Police Interceptor V8. The Charger should be replacing a good amount of the Crown Vics over the course of the next year. As well as the fourthcoming Zeta platform Impala.

I have had the oppritunity to take a ride along in a MSP Hemi Charger. The room is adequate, the power is great, the rear visibility is lacking compared to the CV and the CV seems to have better trunk space. My Sheriffs Office should be getting them sometime within the next year and I am very excited about it.

The Crown Vics are great cars, but they are extremley dated and the steering feel always felt like a piloting a boat to me.

I am going to say that the police departments will be going with the AWD Ford 500's. The charger is going to start being used for the mean time but, I believe Ford plans on a 500 version police package.

not with that tired 206hp V6

I doubt you will be seeing many AWD/FWD based Police Interceptors. Most LEO's prefer RWD, and if they become available most PD's wont bite at them. The Charger Hemi has 90 more HP than the CVPI and costs only 1500 more. Its a realitive bargain and they are really appealing.

The FWD based 500 will see little LE action.

I was told the police package crown vic was a beast but i guess not...i'm not too surprsed though.

I heard once that they were considering using hemi magnums??? i think it was in motortrend...not sure

I also read that there was a state that bought an unmarked Legacy GT for highway patrol...pretty wicked. My city has an unmarked camaro lol

I think they should use the V6 AWD Fusion with a police package to up the ante to around 300hp?

Fusion isnt big enough.

The CVPI's are dogs. the Caprice Interceptors were much better.

A lot of PDs are going to be switching to Hemi Chargers. They are only 1500 more than the CVPIs and ride on a platform which in comparison is light years ahead of the CV's.

Ill be very happy with an unmarked black Hemi Charger to drive around in. ;)
