Even with the same WHP of both cars, the STI would walk the WRX with its 6 gears. The STI is completely different car with its 2.5L and 6 Speed. An STI will pull hard in 4th gear at 40mph. A WRX would need to be in 2nd at 40mph to pull just as hard. There is a lot of difference between the two. You should drive them both and see for yourself.

It depends on the year WRX, as the 06+ WRXs have 2.5's also. In a straight line, less gears typically = better. Oh and depending on the dyno, a stock STi can be anywhere from 210whp to 250whp.

I've heard of people on here (and seen charts posted) pushing 210whp on stock 2006 WRX's.

not a stock car, when its pushing 227hp at the crank from the factory, they had to have atleast intake, exhaust and +boost.

Stg. 2 06 WRX here... dyno'd and at the wheels: 223 hp, 270 lbs-ft torque.

I saw a stock 04 STi do 238 hp and 231 lbs-ft at the wheels on the same dyno and day. I doubt the 06s is any different since nothing changed power-wise.

You can do a search, and the '06 is actually underrated at 230hp to the crank. It's being said that they're more like 250hp to the crank. Look into threads from early '06, thats when I saw them all. I'm sure it should be easy to find. However, as most of you know, dynos don't mean much because each one is different and there are hundreds of factors that come into play. The only reason I would do a dyno would be if I did it stock and then took it to the same dyno after mods to see what I type of hp gained but even then it's not going to be exact. You can dyno the same car 7 different times and you'll get 7 different numbers.

Good idea. You should be able to get three runs for like 75-100 bucks depending on the shop.
