I'm planning on putting a pair of 06 STi headlights into my WRX. I doubt the wiring harnesses are the same but I also want to retain the adjustable height feature found in the STi. From what I understand the motor is attached to the light itself and I'll need the switch obviously. Has anyone else done this successfully? Is it worth it or even possible? Or should I just be happy with the HIDs.

Correct. The 06 STI headlight has the leveling motors attached in the back. From there I suppose a seperate harness runs to the leveling switch that would be in your dash.

I haven't seen the harness myself.. I've been looking into this also.

I'm installing 06 STI's (and also doing a TSX retro) and looking for leveling motors and switches and harnesses as well...

But, I believe with HIDs in a 06 projector housing would be sufficient (halogen or even the STI).. I've previously tried noname chinese re-based h7 HID's in my 06 halogen projector and they looked great !
