Instaling some Hella FF1000's tomorrow and need a place to ground the switch the turn the lights on/off. The switch will be mounted in one of the unused spaces where the OEM fog light switch would normally go.
Can someone point out or describe where I should look to locate a ground wire under the steering wheel or in the surrounding area so I can ground my switch?
Color? Place? etc.
Thanks.
Are you switching a relay or the main lights directly? If you are just turning on a relay, then you don't need much current capability, and grounding to the bolt that mounts the hood release should be sufficient - it's what I use for ground on my radar detector and for the laser jammer system alert. If you're going to run more than a couple of amps then you might find a better ground.

Are you talking about a bolt that mounts the hood release latch inside the cabin? Or the actual hood release latch under the hood at the front of the car?
I was hoping to splice into a ground wire that already was there. The cable that came with the light kit for the FF1000's is only about 2 ft. long. I can make it longer if need be...
Isn't there a ground wire some something...anything...under there?
