View Full Version : STi to be offered in official STi color
I heard the STI would be released in 2003 as a 2004 model and for the first year there will be a limited number offered in STi's official color; cherry red.
Would you buy one?? ;) :D
JGard 11-12-2001, 07:21 PM STi's color is "STi pink" ;)
hmm...never seen it described as cherry, though. Maybe that is the pink...but the red stuff is just FHI. Ehh, either way, that would look kinda gay, I think (not that there's anything wrong with that).
lgkahn 11-12-2001, 09:37 PM If it is red ya.. and the price is right ie <=30K and It is avail. in 4 door version or coupe.
if it is the sti pink no fffffing way... (I can't believe any company in their right mind would release a car in that pink color)... ok maybe a caddy to certain clients :)
Faraz 11-12-2001, 10:37 PM their Cherry Red is what we call "pink"
and the STi WRX has NEVER been aval. in that color.
Now Steel Blue Mica, or that Yellow color would be hot!
imprezawrxsti.com 11-12-2001, 10:59 PM Yes, the pink is called "STi Private Cherry Red" on SOJ's site where they describe the badging, steering wheel stiching, etc.
Would I buy a STi pink STi? Hell yes I would! :) Just wait for the first jackass to make fun of it then you could show him the beauty of all-wheel drive! :D
My thought though, is that if they offer any special colors it will be yellow or steel-blue mica.

All STi, All The Time
jesse370 11-13-2001, 03:06 AM I'm holding out for the Sti and if it came in the yellow, man I would be stoked. How new is that yellow for the rest of the wrx's around the world?
Porter 11-13-2001, 01:38 PM My prediction:
3 Colors for the STi....
1) A new brighter Yellow... REAL Yellow.
2) Bright Red... Arrest me Red similar to the old L's
3) A new slightly lighter brighter Rally Blue (pearlescent)
That's my story and I'm sticking to it. We'll see what happens.

Bunny 11-13-2001, 04:22 PM mmmmmmm STI pink would be so amazing..wasnt there a member, a while ago, (WRXGIRL i think???) who said she was gonna paint her car STI pink?
Coati 11-13-2001, 04:40 PM Drive a pink STi?
Well, we told my mom (when she was buying her Jaguar XJR) that it didn't really matter what the color was because she was going to be in it driving.
Of course the jag doesn't have a body-colored hood scoop to remind you constantly of the car's color.;)
aspera 11-28-2001, 09:35 PM I'd buy a pink STI...and drive it to a body shop to be painted under the cover of darkness. It would still be pink on the inside when you open the hood. Hmmm...pink on the inside....where have I heard that before?
10th Warrior 11-29-2001, 02:16 AM gunmetal gray. the ultimate STi color. hell, the ultimate car color, period. i still want my gunmetal gray v6 RA with the new 6MT just in case any of you want to get me a Chanuka present :D
aspera 11-29-2001, 03:46 AM How about the gray color used on the Audi TT. It really stands out for being gray. What would be better for battle than STI battleship gray?:)
damianq 11-29-2001, 07:06 AM If Subaru sticks with tradition they will release the colors in this order:
White; Silver; yellow & black; blue
Check up on the history of STi model releases. It is the same order of release for every version. That is the order they roll off the assembly line.
A special debut color of the "new age" STi (w/o a version designation) could possibly be red. STi's have never been available in red. I highly doubt the Cherry Red color b/c of the difficulty in mixing such a color for their electrostatic painting process.
Richard L. 11-29-2001, 07:36 PM I hope the paint on the STi will be more durable and higher quality than the current Subaru paint.

damianq 11-29-2001, 09:45 PM STi models have never gone through any special manufacturing process than other Imprezas, other than the 22B. I'm sure the paint will be of the same quality as we have come to expect from Subaru.

PEEWEE HERMAN!!!!
Since this is the "news and rumors" forum, consider this.
If Marlboro does indeed come on as a major sponsor for the SWRT and they do change their colors from the traditional Blue and yellow to Marlboro Red, there may be much more then just a slight possibility of having a WRX offered in a very "WRC-bright" form of Red. It could be called SWNSMBWGTOFTBORAWRTOSWGROTBIFOMM Red ( for "Sorry, we needed some money because we got tired of footing the bill of running a world rally team ourselves, so we got rid of the blue in favor of Marlboro's money)
Here is a photoshop that Pou did a while ago. I love blue, but if they made a red as bright as the WR blue, I think it would look awesome, especially if it kept the gold wheels

aspera 12-01-2001, 06:10 PM Yes bright rally red would look good with gold wheels, but would also look good with black, silver or white wheels. This would be a very streetable color. It is also an obvious choice, as no bright red is currently offered. Since Subaru makes the current WRX in two kinds of blue (not for us), two kinds of red would seem to be no problem. I just wish that all of the colors made were available in the North American market now.
marvinadn 12-02-2001, 01:36 AM i just heard form the internet sales person at premier subaru in CT that 1750 sti's will be coming to the us. no pricing set yet but prob in the 30-35K range and will sell for over MSRP. also he expects they will all be preordered...
BTW, has anyone dealt with totalsubaruperformance.com in homosassa,fl ? they arent too far away from me and i plan to get a wrx in a few months; as soon as my house is done
Avedis 12-04-2001, 12:14 AM I'd wager the reason that US WRXs get WR Blue right now is that the STi will get Sonic Blue while the "normal" WRX sticks with WR Blue . If I had to guess at other colours, I'd guess it might also get white... I wouldn't put money on any other colours though.
And I still think the STi will come in at $29,995 just so it can come in at "less than $30,000". Hopefully I'm right; I can't really see it being any cheaper!
