Quick question. Are the housings of HID fog/driving lights the same as the non HID (same model number) housing?

For instance:

Hella FF200 HID H3
Hella FF200 Regular H3

Are they the same housings? Is the extra cost simply for the HID kit? Could a person buy the FF200 and a H3 HID kit and hook them up?

They appear to be identical and I can't find any website that lists any differences. The Non HID version appears to be 55W H3, but they give no info on the HID setup.

I"m pretty sure it's the reflector that is the diff, plus the ballasts/bulbs. you could run a hid pnp kit in it potentially, but it may not provide the same beam pattern.

The housings are usually different sizes to accomodate the ballast, and the reflector is also different because a HID bulb spreads light differently then a halogen bulb.
