I read on this board that there may be factory installed sunroof in 2003. Anyone have any news about this?

Everything and anything you've read about:

2003 WRX
STi
Evo

is speculation and rumor. Makes for interesting threads, but don't rely on it!

Nope, probably won't know until spring at least.. Would love a hole in the roof of mine..

Stay tuned to the the News & Rumours forum next spring/early summer for details on 2003 models.

I'm hoping for a 276hp 6-speed STi wagon with sunroof for $18,000.. One can dream..

I would imagine that with all of the interest and response that the WRX has generated here that they will have some more goodies for next year....IMO at least. :)

The Subaru dealership by my house just sold a WR Blue WRX that had aftermarket Sunroof and Leather!! Apparently they had these options installed somewhere and it looked quite nice. I asked one of the employees about the structural rigidity of the car being compromised but they reassured me that additional strengthing beams had been installed and that it was acutally stronger than before...... I dunno

I asked one of the employees

... 'nuff said.

I wonder how those leather seatcovers work with the side airbags? Which do you think is stronger - the explosive charge in the airbags or the tensile strength of the leather stitching. I wouldn't want to be there when someone has to find out.

this will be interesting to watch n see...
i doubt we'll see the Sunroof return to the Impreza...

but who knows??

i know that Subaru will be making changes to the cars 'quicker' than they have in the past...

so maybe we'll have a change in the product line...

and maybe not...

:)

will an added sunroof sell more wrx's?
that's what they'll be considering...

Its coming. We should see it on the next model year in Sept-Oct of 2002.

I do like the new grill too.

Yo Mell, you have any larger pics of this new grill? Do you know if we will get the blacked out style lights too. A sunroof would be nice, I'm used to it in my accord and really do love to run with that open in the summer.

I'm going to order my wrx in april so I will be getting a 03. Guess only time will tell what they change. But I figure they will do little things to the car, maybe a boost gauge that reads in psi? (even though is isn't hard to make the conversion in your head.) Maybe a different choice of interior colors? A wrc style wing*drool* 17's stock. better tires? I took one for a test drive and love the wrx. can't wait for mine

that pic of the wrx looks sweet.
the addition of the new grill is smart.
if the 03 wrx comes out like that, i will seriously have to consider it.
i was almost positive that i wanted the rs instead, but i'll have to see.

What is this a picture of?? Does this mean Canadian WRX's have a sunroof?

Second, what's different about the grill. Looks similar to me.

Ah, I should go think about this but I'm just in the mood to ask questions first.

well if we're getting a car that looks like that then that would kick ass cause that means we're getting the sti lights....

Performance freaks beware, a sunroof adds weight to the top of the car.

I am a serious Sports car enthusiast - when I was an expatriate in Europe I was a part of a local rally team with my Impreza GT Turbo. I always loved Sunroofs though. I like them so much that I think I would even sacrifice a tiny bit of performance just to enjoy the scenery and the fresh air (not on a rally course).

There does not have to be a compromise, however. The factory can make the sunroof without ruining the car's rigidity.

So, my vote goes to the STi with a Sunroof!

thanks for the pictures. I still can't see the difference in the grills? someone help me with that.

do you think we will get those headlights on the 03??

would the morettes work with the new grill?? But if we get the sti lights I would never get the morettes.

i'd say doubtful on the lights... SOA is lazy. From the pics, I doubt that morrettes would work w/ the new grill. It runs across the underside of the black grill now so you just can't take out the corners.

well i hope we get the those lights than. I have to wait till april to order mine, so I figure it will be a 03

Rebellion

you're gonna be waiting til august or september if you want a MY03... it'll be back on the normal MY schedule next year.

jesse370

I doubt it will take that long. Didn't the wrx hit dealer lots in the spring of last year? If so than I would think by april or may they will have switched over to 03. When I order my car in april I would think they woud build me a nice shiny 03. i hope.

So they will produce the 02 for over a year than?

Maybe the sunroof will be an sti option only, either way i am getting mine with a sunroof.

I think the grille is deeper and more recessed or something, just makes it look better than the '02, that's all. Very subtle/minor change.

Nice wheels on the JDM silver sedan- what size
are they, I wonder?

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I'd be interested in confirming the type and size of those wheels shown above as well. Any help?

in the US, those rims come stock on a 99 RS. The 98 RS has those rims in Gold.

16 X 7, I would guess since they are the original US-spec RS wheels :)

I heard the UK factory 17" will be available in the US ?

If those wheels pic'd on pg1 are from a '99RS, why are they being shown on various pics of an STi? Someone please enlighten me (and forgive my ignorance) on this. Is it just me, or do those look like 17" rims, and against that silver sedan, they look pretty darn good, yes???

I don't believe that is the STI (look on the right side of the badge no sti logo), I believe that might be the 02's original press shoot, before they had the current wheels available. So they used the best looking wheels they had... anthricite version III's (not too sure on version) but I can almost garentee they aren't US rs wheels, the 98's were version III wheels, the 99's (silver) were knock offs, not ver III's.
AO <--- has 99 silvers on his g-ride... boy do I love em too

yep, sure look like RS wheels. thanks. but they do seem to fill-out the wheel well more on the WRX.

Do they come in 17inch and gunmetal? If so, where can and I find/buy some? (already searched Wheel/Tire forum)...

Any ideas?

like I said, our 99' wheels were knock off of VIII's I believe... why would they use a non domestic market part for a 'new product?'
As for size, I've only seen them in 16x7...
