I finally got a (somewhat) local dealer to come off of sticker on a WRX. First off, I need to know if the price is reasonable. The sticker was $26,022, and they came off $2,000. Next up would be the extended warranty. They wanted $1450 to extend it to 6 yr/100k miles. Is that the going rate? They had a set of aftermarket wheels/tires that I would probably get (already on car). The wheels said OZ for sure, and I could have sworn they said prodrive too, but it may have been something different. They were anthracite-like in color. 18" with Yokohama P-something 225/40 tires. With locking lugs the package was $1,999. Price reasonable? How heavy are these wheels? Are they respectably light (even tho they are 18's...I know...but man they look bitchin)? It didn't have any stereo upgrades, just the spoiler, shift knob (gonna try and get out of that one), armrest extension, compass mirror, and carbon fiber kit (didn't want it, but it looks easier to clean than the silver...less reflection too). Anything else that I simply must have? I drove the car, my first time in a REX. Still have no idea what it runs like, as I kept the R's under 3500 or so. I'm a firm believer in a proper break-in, and if I'm going to buy the car.... The total, out the door(TTL), price came to $27,566. I want to reserve it tomorrow if I'm going to get it, so I need help fast

TIA,

VV

good base price... if you want the 18" OZ's definitally take the offer... seems like they might be tacking on extra's in add-on(compass mirror  ) , but if you like 'em well enough its still a good deal..

if they are Prodrive wheels i think they are a bit heavier than stock, but super tough...

dont know about the warrenty ....

Sounds like you're getting screwed. Maybe the dealer should toss in a jar of vasaline to close the deal.

what color is the car? as for the rims.... im guessing the P1's. alittle on the heavy side, but supposed to be very strong. get the car! but ditch that extended warranty, it just means you have to waited longer till you can REALLY modify!!

Care to elaborate on that? What part was so bad? Not sure if I clarified, but the 27,566 figure included tax, title, tag, and a $2000 set of wheels and tires. Without them, it's 25,566 out the door. Is everyone getting more than $2k off of sticker?

The car is Silver. And do you know exactly what one of the 18" P1's weighs? What do the stockers weigh? And is $2k a decent price for them with yokohama (parahna, something like that) tires mounted and balanced?

THANKS!

I seriously doubt I'll get the warranty if I get the car. And I know for certain that the wheels said OZ (if you can't tell, this would be my first venture from domestics, and I completely missed the whole rice generation thing).

Thanks!

I'll comment on the wheels/tires, since I have the 18" P1 wheels, and I had Paradas before.

First, the price... It's not the best. If you check Tirerack, the 18" OZ Prodrive (P1s) are about $330/ea, and Paradas are about $130. You're paying a bit more than you have to. Plus, do you get to keep your stockers? You can sell the stock wheels/tires for about $500 on the classifieds here.

Second, the wheels. They are about 21lb a piece. Kind of heavy, but very strong. Also, they are Subaru exclusive. They come in the ET53 offset only, so you won't see them on any other makes. If you want lighter OZ wheels, you may want to consider the 18x8 SuperLeggeras.

Third, the tires. The Paradas are crap. They look good, but that's it. Grip is mediocre at best. Also, they are assymetrical but not unidirectional, which means the thread is different between your left and right tires. After not too many miles, you'll find the outer blocks on your left tires peeling up, and make very loud road noise. I took mine off very soon.

In conclusion, the wheels are nice, but the tires are not, and you shouldn't be paying $2000 for them.

I Looked at Tirerack. 4 18" anthracite P1s with 4 Parada's came to $1908. Tax (in my state you pay it at the end of the year if you don't pay it online), shipping, mounting and balancing...probably worth $91. Is there a cheaper place than Tirerack?

Forgot to add that the STI short throw shifter and turbo boost guage was included in that price. Not sure how much of a difference that makes.

If the superlegarras(sp) are 18.5 lbs and the P1s are 21.5 lbs, what kind of difference will that make in a straight line? Are talking tenths or hundredths...surely it's hundredths.

thanks

sounds like an okay price w/ the wheels... if you were smart you'd go from invoice price... not down from msrp. what's the invoice price on the car? with the market as poor as it is now... i'd offer $500 over invoice and see what they say. Sounds like you're getting a lot of "options" you don't need. Many of the factory options can be purchased seperately and installed by you for half of what it'd cost you w/ the car. It sounds like minus the TTT, the extended warranty, and the wheels/tires you'd be paying just over 23k? That's not BAD at all. Not sure what other options other than that crappy boost guage and the short shifter you're getting.

People aren't reading your post very well...

$27,566 - everything
- 1,450 - ext warranty
- 1,999 - tires
- 1,000 - tax/tag/title (est.)
=23,117

seems like a very good price.

er... the superleggeras don't come in an 18" do they? If you're dragging, you shouldn't be doing it on 18"'s anyway. (if you're dragging you shouldn't be doing it in a subaru either .. but that's just my opinion  )

The invoice price (what the dealer paid) is approximately $22,500 not counting any of the extras. Work up from that, not down from the MSRP.

Good price. Buy it. Often, people on this board just like to piss on stuff. The STi short shifter is very nice. So is the Subaru boost gauge. The wheels, if they are indeed Prodrive P1s (though I don't know about 18s...ow!) will outlast the car.

Well, I did. Left all of the options on the car that were already there (which was everything but the shifter), and got him to come down another $700. Personally, I'd rather pay for the factory installed options than talk him into swapping them out and let some $10/hour teenager in the car swapping out parts. I know that's stereotypical as hell, but the reality would probably be someone that knew less than today's teenagers. Anyway, won't pick up the car till Saturday. Can't wait :D
