Guys -
I'm getting ready to move back to NC. I ordered my hitch and wiring harness, everything looks fine and the hitch is installed.

However, as you may know there is no connector to connect the car to the wiring harness, it requires a bit of hand working...

Has anyone done this, and can post detailed instructions on how to do so? I'm not especially mechanically inclined...

I could walk you through it, but it would take hours of typing. :)

Basically you'll need vampire taps, some wires, butt/bullet connectors, electrical tape, and a test light. A buddy wouldn't hurt either.

You'll need to pull the taillights off, or however it is you get to the bulbs/wiring. Then figure out where the left flasher, right flasher, brake light(only need one), and regular tail lamp bulbs are, and hack wires from them to the hitch connector. You probably don't need to worry about back-up lights or auxilary power (for trailers with electric brakes, interior lights, whatever). Then you'll need to ground a wire to the chassis. Pretty simple.

Yes, I won't do step by step, but I can help a little. You don't need to take the taillights off. Just remove the rear trunk liner and you'll have access to the bulb harnesses. You will need a test light. The converter you bought (you did get one didn't you?) will have instructions with it. You basically will turn on the right signal and probe the wires until you find it and splice the correct feed wire from the converter, ect. The hardest part of the deal is running the wire from the battery. If you look hard, you can sort of tell which wire is which by following it to the bulbs. There is no easy plug in way and I didn't write the wire colors down when I did it, so you just have to figure it out with the test light. I also used the rubber plug under the spare tire to run the harness through that goes to the trailer.

For the battery supply to the converter box (blue?) tap into the power wire to the trunk light. It is the same fuse and circuit as the real connector used in the TS wagon.

You then only have to run it from the trunk light down to the box.

I have all of this written down.... somewhere!
