View Full Version : For Those Waiting For AP 2.0
xxxbelial29xxx 12-02-2006, 05:40 AM I talked to "Parker" last night to check on the shipment of the new AccessPort and he told me it has been delayed a few days (hopefully) in order to work out a last minute bug they found. He commented that the engineers didn't seem too worried about it so I guess it's not that big of a deal.
Sorry if this has been posted already, I didn't bother to search.

I talked to "Parker" when I called too.
I am upset 'cause I hear they have the JDM technology for the AP2, but they won't put the software on the AP2.
scoobystas 12-02-2006, 07:12 AM what are we going to be missing by not having JDM technology on our AP?
darksc00by 12-02-2006, 07:12 AM Those of us that have JDM motor swaps.

 Guess he's the only one there to answer the phone? Yea, they should take into consideration the popularity of that kind of swap.
To Mods., sorry to post in the general forum, thought it would get more attention there.
Uncle Scotty 12-02-2006, 01:15 PM .....if enough peeps wanted the JDM support....maybe Trey would listen....but he would have to be convinced

A bunch of people called wanting JDM support. But IMO, Trey is probably holding out so then he can release the software for a price?
IDK.

But in the HSPN interview he did mention that he was goin to sell the AP2 beyond the US and to international markets with multi language support because lots of ppl have been requesting it.
is the version 2 really worth it guys? I havent been able to get a straigt answer from people. I can get a used v1 for pretty cheap..
aboothman 12-03-2006, 05:09 PM - smaller
- quicker/less troublesome loading of maps
- upgraded memory
- saves stock map
- usb interface
a bunch of other stuff, but for me the above makes it worth it
o2sys 12-03-2006, 05:10 PM i think its worth it for the looks alone and the USB
Defiantspaz 12-03-2006, 10:05 PM I have heard that the AP ver 2.0 will also support speed density tuning.
If this is true the AP ver 2.0 will be able to surpass the current MAF limitations that hold back AP ver 1.0.
I would pay more for the ability to tune speed density.

Yes that and the potential for launch control ;).
When the AP 2.0 is release I doubt it will be much different than the 1.0 off the bat other than the small differences, size, speed, etc. However give it a few months and everyone will see the added potential.

screw launch control.....that will kill a LOT of engines and trannies and clutches.....the SD tooning is the real kicker
xxxbelial29xxx 12-06-2006, 05:54 AM What is speed density tuning?
ronnyek 12-06-2006, 11:28 AM Uhh first I've heard of speed density tuning as well, after searching to no real avail, can somone explain what this might allow?
rkramer 12-06-2006, 11:37 AM i'd be really interested to see how launch control is implemented... the AP and other flash based em solutions do not re-write ECU executable code, the ECU hasn't been reverse engineered to that degree. all that is done is that new maps are uploaded. Without additional hardware i don't see how you could do launch control. (unless it is a requirement that the AP is plugged in maybe...?)
ronnyek 12-06-2006, 12:14 PM My impression is just having rpm limiters based on certain conditions, eg clutch pedal depressed. I'd also heard 2.0 will eventually have anti-lag which I've got no idea about
parker/slc/gc8fan 12-06-2006, 08:42 PM Here ya go guys.

Not sure how the older cars will work but any 06+ with drive by wire will be very simple to setup a launch control :).

garagedefeat 12-19-2006, 02:52 AM is speed density confirmed for the 2.0?
