All-New Tundra CrewMax To Make World Debut At 2007 North American International Auto Show

December 5, 2006 – Torrance, CA - Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A., Inc. will stage the world premiere of the all-new 2007 Tundra CrewMax full-size pickup at a press conference at the 2007 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The four-door CrewMax will offer the most room, versatility and storage in the Tundra lineup.

Larger in every dimension than the model it replaces, the 2007 Tundra is available in 31 model configurations, with a choice between 4x2 and 4x4 drivetrains, and towing capacity of more than 10,000 lbs. This second-generation Tundra offers three cab styles, three wheelbases, three bed lengths, three engines, and three trim levels.

The next-generation Tundra was designed and engineered in the United States and will be assembled exclusively at the company's truck plants in Texas and Indiana.

The press conference will be held on Sunday, January 7 at 12:10 PM Eastern Time in the Riverview Ballroom in COBO Center and simulcast live to the Toyota display area at the show. A video clip of the press conference will be available for viewing following the event on the Toyota.com website

Not likely, the big three still have better big trucks than the Tundra/Titan.

Hopefully this isn't common knowledge or old news at this point, but I work at a Toyota dealership. We just recently received a shipment of brochures with the 2007 lineup, and it includes a section on the Tundra, saying the 5.7-liter V-8 is rated at 381 hp @ 5600 rpm and 401 lb.-ft @3600 rpm.

But more importantly, there were six or seven Tundras AT THE DEALERSHIP from last night up until early this afternoon (not for public display, but in areas easily accessible by employees or meandering guests). They are intended to be regional demo trucks that were just temporarily stored at the dealership. Supposedly they were transported to some corporate offices elsewhere afterward.

Not likely, the big three still have better big trucks than the Tundra/Titan.

God, when are those new EPA mileage standards for trucks going to kick in to force the automakers to bring the size of these behemoths down a little. Geez.

What I find really amazing is if you look at a FULL-SIZE pickup from the 80's or even early 90's, they would almost be considered MID-size today.

Ford makes trucks plenty bigger than tundras. I saw one of these the other day. The guy just had to drive up on a curb to park in a normal parking place. The guy didnt even care.

Yes but they really don't sell many of those. F250s and F350s though there is still no comparable Toyota.

I work for Toyota too. The 381hp is on a VERY conservative tune. Reflash it and you can easily have over 450hp. I can't wait until someone gets a regular cab Tundra with the 5.7 V8. It'll be a beast! Also, as of right now there are no plans to release the CrewMax with a long bed.

The whole Full size market will get interesting with this and the new Titan Diesel and W/T options

I'm not in the market for a 2007 truck so I have to claim ignorance on the latest models, but in 2004-2005 the domestic's full size trucks had equal or better reliability (at least Chevy/GM did in Consumer Reports), better power and features, higher towing/hauling capacity, better gas mileage, flex-fuel capability, diesel engines available, more configurations, etc., etc., and to top it off they were thousands cheaper than a comparable import Tundra or Titan.

In all fairness, 04-05 was a long time ago in the automotive world. Toyota completely designed and built the new Tundra to take sales from GM/Ford/Dodge. This is a whole different animal from the near compact sized first generation Tundra.
