View Full Version : Can someone make this into a graphic file for me?

Jessie James

I really like this graphic, and want to have some company make it for me, but I suck with graphics programs.

Does anyone have some free time to make it for me?

<img src="http://www.rs25.com/images/importd0.jpg" width="400">

If you can make it good quality, like PSD or EPS I can covert it to whatever I need. BIg file is fine, like up to 1mb.

Thanks!

What exactly is it that you need? The Japanese Text? The Launsport Text? The Mitsu Logo? Or the Swoosh?

There is no way that could be under 1mb for the file types you asked for. Also that is a lot of work any one who would do it for free couldn't be doing a good job. BTW I am a Designer and have experience with the programs you mentioned.

Hey buddy, that Swoosh is what you are probably looking for I presume. Skidplatez is right indeed. I too is a Graphic Design and a 3D animator. What you are asking for cost big bucks! You are requesting a file to be use as a decal under 1MB is totally unheard of. Not to mention the size of that decal. Something that big on the side of that door can cost you at least $100 dallors per-side. Also, PSD (photoshop file) files are usually huge because it carries a lot of data about layers, effects, layout format, text font settings, and color. My guess about that design on the side of that Impreza would be about at least 75MB. Just go buy the sticker or learn a graphic program and do it yourself basically~http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/rolleyes.gif

Umm, the creation would be a pain, but in vector format the SWRT swoosh could be created using less than 80 splines. That would take up very little space. Like maybe 1k of actual geometric data.

I was talking about the swoosh and stars on the door and rear panel. It's that big, huh? Bummer. I wasn't so worried about the cost of having them dne, but just getting it done is beyond me. I can sorta use Photoshop but not like that!

Oh well, another idea down the drain.... http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/frown.gif

I'll try to do an EPS of the swoosh tonight. Shouldn't take more than an hour... I ain't no professional artist, but I'm betting it'll look pretty good.

No way all those graphics are over 1meg, plus if you're a so called graphic professional, it will only take 10-20min tops.

Plus, no graphic professional would use Photoshop to do those graphics.

Mr. Architect... Yes, doing it in PSD is a bad idea indeed. Then again, he did requested in his message. As for EPS, it is smaller in size of course. Illustrator is the way to go most definitely. Say, maybe you can help him out if you have time on your hand. Makesure to have fun doing it too~ http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/smile.gif

I don't really care what format I get it in, all I know is I can open it in PSD, EPS, JPG, and GIF formats (plus some others) and then I figure most graphics places can also deal with it that way.

But I am not picky - whatever I can open in Photoshop 5.5 is fine by me! http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/smile.gif

All it takes is some careful layering of some vector graphics, small amount of space. Put that into raster graphics, and yes, it would be huge.

Ross-
You CrackHead you can't make that in anything usable by a printer for under a meg. The formats he asked for were EPS or PSD the super primitive version I just wipped up without the SUBARU text was 25 meg as an EPS. That was my only point. Good luck making that tonight!

P.S.
A good print shop could take an Ai file which would be significantly smaller but for a shop like that to make your vinyl? Get ready to pay!

Tom,
I was thinking of making it in Illustrator or Photoshop using spline tools and trying to store it in PDF, since it has vector graphics support. I'll let you guys know how things go, and Tom, thanks for the vote of confidence! http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/tongue.gif

Such a heated discussion, and here I thought it was going to be a fairly boring topic....

And the other "boring" topics I posted, one got locked, and the other no-no'd by the moderators. http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/redface.gif

I think I should just lay low for a while, I am being controlversial and don't even know how or why! http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/smile.gif

thought i'd weigh in with my .02 worth, but you definitely have to do it in illustrator. doing it in photoshop would fall under "cruel & unusual punishment". simple rule of thumb: photoshop for bitmap, illustrator for vector.

OK here is the low down. Those graphics are most likely vinyl cut. All you need is an .ai (Illustrator) file and a local vinyl shop. The shops usually charge per square foot for vinyl, with installation optional. But all you need to install it yourself is a spray bottle with water and dawn and a hair dryer. Photoshop is not what you need here. And the vinyl shop will not, I repeat, will not raster the Illustrator file to make the graphic.

Ok guys, it's almost 2:00 in the AM, and the swoosh and stars are done. I want to get the SUBARU done, but those letters are a pain. Does anyone have access to a Subaru Logo lookalike font? If not, that's fine, but it'll just take me longer.

Anyway, I'll finish this up tomorrow night.

I dunno..I work with the programs your talking about alittle..of course im not a graphic artist..but my friend is..and that swoosh doesnt seem like a very big task..Illustrator should be able to do it fine...in vector it can be scaled to whatever size with virtually no loss of quality..like I said..im no graphic artist..but I know a simple graphic when i see one..and that definatly is not complex...

grimlock, i work in a graphics house, so we happen to have a lot of auto manufacturer graphics on cds here. i'll take a look through them today when i get a chance.

Ha! If you can find the SUBARU logo text, that would be great. The only thing that worries me is that you'll find the whole SWRT swoosh already made! Ah well, let me know...

Someone had a similar request a few months back. They were giving away this Illustrator file to anyone who wanted it. It has everything you need (the Subaru word, stars) except the swoosh itself which is pretty simple to to reproduce. I think you need Illustrator 8 or higher to open it. Just take what you need from this file and discard the rest.

please no more swooshes, stop the swooshes, isn't it a sign from god that about 80% of the technology companies that utilized a swoosh in their logo are now out of business. let's come up with something new... squares, circles, triangles, something. squares are good, any one want .eps files of squares. I'll donate my time to this.... for fun go to... http://50cups.com/swoosh/index.asp + http://www.enormicom.com/

this is meant for humor, please don't take it too seriously

I should be able to finish the graphic with what's been unearthed so far. However, I'd love to have the Subaru logo font for future use. If you can find it, that'd be great.

haha cminch, i never realized just how often people use the swoosh thing. personally i try to stay away from creating anything "swooshy" (i call it the "orbit school of design thought", others call it the "ring around uranus").

Go here to get it: http://www.geocities.com/grimlock_iclub

And thanks for waiting!

okay so i'm a jerk and made an idiotic post relating technology companies to car graphics, I apologize. Anyway I read all the comments this time. You could actually do the artwork in illustrator or freehand. you could do it at 1inch x 1inch and save it on a floppy as an .eps if you wanted and take it to your local vinyl shop. they'll be able to enlarge it as large as you need. vector files are super easy to work with. all you need is the type, and then convert it to paths/outlines before you go. I'll browse my font discs and see if I can match that font for ya....

Just in case some of you don't have AI installed, I made a jpg of the logo. Let's see if Geocities likes my linking to it...

Edit: Go to the page to see the pic. I fixed the img tag there. Stupid quote marks. I still can't see the main page from here at work, but maybe you guys can.

It doesn't work. I don't think geoCities will let you do that. I looked at the main page where the image is also, but it looks like the hyperlink is messed up somehow... care to try again? http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/biggrin.gif
