I've been trying to research the various transmissions lately, and have not been able to find one key piece of information. I have repeatedly seen that the 2007 Legacy Spec B is using an "STI based" 6 speed transmission. But has it been verified whether or not the STI based transmission also means that it get the helical limited slip differential in the front diff too, or does the lack of mentioning it mean they conveniently left that wonderful aspect of the STI tranny out? If they left it out, I wonder where it then would fall price wise between a standard 5 speed $3112 MSRP, and the LSD equipped STI 6 spd $4995 MSRP from SOA.

Call the dealer and ask them...they should be able to tell you specifically what they are selling in their cars...
makes sense right?

dealer likely woudn't know unless it is the service department that is called.. They may be able to match the part number of the transmission to that of the Impreza

Most of the shmucks at dealers don't know jack when it comes to technical questions. They know just enough to regurgitate, with varying degrees of correctness, what they read in they glossy brochure. And since it has different gear ratios it will more than likely have a different part number as well.
I suppose this would have been better asked in the drivetrain forum... :o
