Sold!

Thinking about selling/trading my son's Cabby. He can't drive it yet but Mom and I were thinking about getting him something that requires less upkeep and probably something with airbags like a mk3 golf, maybe even an automatic. He might get his license next summer, maybe, but he can drive a standard trans. He hasn't driven the Cabby because I dont want him to fry the clutch til his technique improves.

1989 VW Cabriolet
1.8 stock
5 spd
black
black top
bilstein struts and shocks Neuspeed Race springs.
mk2 front seats
Comes with your choice of teardrops, bottle caps, purple montes, or steelies & good tires.

Needs top repair, has a slice in it that i've covered with black duck tape.
Oil pressure is good but alarms if you cruise a long time in 5th.
Has 'creaking' sound when turning the steering wheel. Balljoint?
Right side tail lights inop.
Needs e-brake cables, siezed.
Needs new rotors, and caliper sliders re-greased from sitting too long, still drives.

mileage? (more interested in odo reading than fuel efficiency)
BUMP

130 something. odo is broke. Guessing miles are more like 150K, guaging by what the previous owner said about how much they drove it. MPG is probly high 20s, never checked.

Rust is nearly non existant. Only 3 quarter size bubbles under the paint, one on the trunk lid, one above the left rear reflector, and one above the Left rear wheel.

Also, the heater only works on defrost. According the Vortex DIY the heater and odometer can be fixed pretty cheaply if you're mechanically inclined.

Its inside now but easy access to the outdoors if you want a test drive.

edit: Purple wheels arent available, my son says he wants to keep them, mom says he's getting my 95 Golf RallyXmobile. :(

the creaking sound when turning is most likely the front strut mts, the go bad as soon as you put them in  . thats a good price, good luck on the sale

It must be the strut mount because it does it when sitting still.

I'd drive to MI if I had time. I've got cousins in around Royal Oak, Pontiac, and other places.

Looks like fun.. If I had garage space I might give it a home.. But not with those purple alloys. :D

heh, the purple montes are staying here unless someone really wants them, but I still have the bottle caps, and teardrops. I'll have to mount and remount tires depending on whether people want snows or alldiggers.
