I think the other one got deleted because I put it in the wrong section...oh well. Guys, I broke the 200hp barrier. Here are my mods:

TENZO R 18" RIMS, NITTO 215/35/18 TIRES, CUSTOM AIR INTAKE, MRT HEADER (IN PROCESS OF BUILDING SUPERIOR HEADER), GREDDY CAT-BACK EXHAUST, MSD IGNITION BOX (RECOMMEND TO EVERYONE), ALUMINUM THROTTLE BODY SPACER, STI RED/CLEAR TAILLIGHTS, ALL CLEAR LENSES(SIDE MARKERS ARE ON BACK ORDER), ORDERED BUT STILL WAITING FOR EIBACH SPRINGS, ALUMINUM FLYWHEEL AND, UNORTHODOX PULLEYS.

So what do you guys think?

Okay... so from those mods, the only power mods I can see are...

Intake
MRT header
Greddy cat-back
throttle body spacer (doubtful but we'll go along with it)
aluminum flywheel - not a hp increase but better whp
pulleys - not a hp increase but better whp

That should be good for... approx. ~14whp.

Approx. +15 crank hp...

That's about... 180hp.

silver-RS
12-11-2006, 03:02 AM
no offense but 200HP even at the crank is not that easily achieved by adding some bolt-on...

if you like your car...thats all matters...

BUT "I broke the 200hp barrier" <--- this make you look silly

I see I am getting negative feedback so far.....Who dosent have 200 HP by now? Lets take a look at how it adds up.. 2.5 RS comes stock with 165 HP. Any dyno test in america will show that SS 2 1/4" exhaust w/ high flow cat/muffler and a header will increase 15-20HP. Aftermarket intakes are good for 7-10HP mine is custom made to use the center scoop to deliver cold air (forced air). I give it a solid 10HP gain. THe MSD tech rep assured me that the high output multiple spark box would add 15-30HP. Well, maybe somewhere, I give it 8-10HP which isnt bad for $275. The nice increase is the throttle response @ about 2-2500 RPM when you mash it, there is no hesitation. I fabricated a 3/4" aluminum spacer for the throttle body which I designed from ones available for other cars, gives the fuel a vortex effect which they claim adds at least 10HP. I think for all my work I picked up 2HP tops. Not much but, Ill take it. Wrapping the headers adds about 3-5HP which is good but, the headers I found out later, basically destroy themselves inside the wrap because of the extreme heat trapped inside. They havent arrived yet so I can not add them yet but, the aluminum flywheel is supposed to add 2HP for every pound you save. The underdrive pulleys are the same. I, like all of you out there, am counting the days untill DNT performance releases the supercharger kit for our 2.5 RS. Lets see how were looking for HP.Stock=165 + Header/exhaust=17 + Air intake=10 + MSD box=9 + custom spacer=2 + header wrap=3 HP for a grand total of 207 HP(+/- 3). I only joined this club to meet people and make new contacts, I think were all on the same team here...Right?

Whats wrong with yall? I do not have a dyno. The HP estimates I am talking about are flywheel HP. At the wheels I probably have 135 HP. I dont know why yall question the rims or, every thing else for that matter. I am building a header of my own. Maybe it will just bog the motor or suck altogether. I know the test results Ive seen on the flowmaster collector when I used to build small block chevys. Anyways, I dont see the need to explain myself. The other clubs I belong to encourage other people to keep it up. When people tell them about your latest project they think it is great and have positive feedback.

I think my header that I am building added about 20 hp to the wheels. So that gives me about 220 hp or so, which should put dead even with a WRX with bolt ons.

All I really know is everytime I spend a weekend tweaking something or adding new goodies, it pulls harder than before. Once I finally need a new clutch and bolt up the aluminum flywheel, I am taking it to the 1/4 mi. I should be in the high 13's...what do you guys think?

Do you really think you can drop in on a forum thats been around since that start of the Impreza in the US, claim to have 200hp with nothing more than simple bolt-ons, and get away with it? Did you even try the search button? the 200HP NA mark has been a "bolt-on" goal for years. To date, I don't think anybody has gotten there... with just bolt ons. Hell, I have a full Intake, Header, Exhaust and Cams in my car, and I would hesitate to claim 200 flywheel HP. And Cams don't count as a bolt-on.

To people around here, that KNOW what they are doing with regards to cars, you don't sound like you really know enough to be taken seriously. Sure, you can spew out key words like "MSD" or "Header"... but it's really obviuos that you are not a serious tuner. Or atleast, 4 years ago you anyway.

Dude.. you can't be for real! I mean seriously! Are you actually the guy who started that thread 4 years ago? I suspect that your more likely just someone looking to start a flame war. That much time passes, and you still have no clue. but.. if you reall are him..

What have you been doing for 4 years? Have you learned nothing about tuning cars? Just cuz somebody claims that Bolt-On A gives you 5 HP, doens't mean it actually does. Not to mention, you can't just add them all up. I mean come on... get a clue!

Hey, I have a "Left Handed Wing Nut Regulator" that I guarantee will add 15HP to your car.. And it's only $25 :D

I think my header that I am building added about 20 hp to the wheels. So that gives me about 220 hp or so, which should put dead even with a WRX with bolt ons.

This is my favorite quote.. This pretty much says it all, your not for real. Only someone with real automotive experience would try to build their own header, and nobody who knows anything about cars would have the bawls to claim that their, as yet un-built and un-tested header is good for 20HP on a small 4-cyl subie.

The point of all this... Do some reading before making wild claims that you can't prove.

Hey Migo thanks for the thread referal. Needless to say I'm not gonna be able to link this one sorry OP.

Some suggestions though, I understand you dont apparently have a dyno in your area but do you have a drap strip. For many ppl that is even better than a dyno sheet.

Dynos have glitches and correction factors and the real hardcore naysayers want you dyno the car stock first and then add mods and re dyno same day under the exact same conditions (I wont mention any names here).

However a couple of trips down a drag strip can tell the more experienced posters here a lot about your car. Post a time slip and it can add real credibility to your claims. Have a friend video the runs and you'll really show ppl what you got good or bad.

And good luck on the header I love DIY projects you can really learn a lot about the car. Just keep in mind that OBX sells a decent equal length header for less than $300 new and you can barely buy the Stainless pipe for that much at your local metals warehouse.

Some other ppl have fabbed headers for the 6 cylinder motor and they used pieces form Summit racing I believe. So if you can saw and weld the parts then that be the route to go.

actually my first thread in OT got closed because of that. No where did I ask anyone if they wanted to buy my header. I just said I was making one....douchebag:rolleyes:

speaking of douche bags.. and I quote..

"I think the other one got deleted because I put it in the wrong section...oh well. Guys, I broke the 200hp barrier. Here are my mods:..."

next post:

" Yep, deleted...lol. Didnt realize they enforced the vendor rule so hard...oh well no biggie. Having 200hp the old natural way eases the pain. I just typed in caps to draw attention to my mod list."

ahah.. looks pretty douche to me. just so you know. People can clickerz on your name and read all of your posts :D

bentover_24, your not much on learning from other ppl are you? If you drop the 12 year old like attitude their are a lot of folks on this forum that would help you actually achieve 200hp at the crank or at the wheels.

Instead your call ppl like Matt a douchebag? Then you say were jealous? Wow, you got a lot of growing up to do. The reason we dont believe is that their are ppl who have spent thousands of man-hours tinkering with the EJ25 and spending some serious cash on mods to just reach the 200hp mark. (search Matt Monson or Patrick Olsen for starters)

You come on here and say you did it with some bolt-ons with no dyno and no time slips. There are plenty of ppl with your mods who have dynos and time slips and have no where near 200hp at the crank, so we dont believe you.

You haven't done anything unique, like the guy working on Individual Throttle Bodies, and you havent done anything new (that goes especially for the smack talking ).

If you want to actually achieve something other than looking like a punk on here, there are a lot of ppl with a alot knowledge that can help.

wow you guys are noobs. he def has all dat hp cus i seen his car noobs. he beats Sti's;

Are you kidding? Are you actually going to sit there and try to tell us that a guy with a NA subaru running a home made header, catback exhaust and a TB Spacer is not only pushing his claimed 200hp, but eats STis. Really? Please tell me this was an attempt at humor and I just missed it.

Hey bentonite_24
You do realize that there are people on this forum that have proven tuning knowledge, and have struggled to reach 200hp NA with far more mods that your list includes!

The reason your getting so much much flack over this is cuz nobody believes you. Not for even a second.. And you have no data what so ever to backup your 200hp claim. You can't walk in here, claim that your 2 or 3 bolt-ons added 35hp to your car with nothing more than your butt-dyno to prove it.

If you had started your thread with something more like.
"Hey.. I'm working on getting more HP from my NA subie. I've added . bla .. bla .. bla... I don't know how much, but my butt dyno tells me I've added a few ponies. "
You would not have gotten flamed so bad.

P.S.
+1 for What Rally_wgn Said!!

I think my header that I am building added about 20 hp to the wheels. So that gives me about 220 hp or so, which should put dead even with a WRX with bolt ons.
I should be in the high 13's...what do you guys think?

ROFL Bolt-on WRX, Bolt on what, cement bricks on wheels?

High 13's? LOL

20 hp to the wheels from piping LMFAO TO THE WHEELS LMFAO AHASHAHA:lol:

oh i love this thread, it gets me goin in the morning.

Calling people names will win you much favour around here. But you are so far out of your element that you aren't even worth my time with flaming and trashing your ignorant posts. Keep living the dream. If you really care about making your car faster search for my build and dyno results...

these people who have tinkered obviously dont know what they are doing, or else I wouldnt be one of the few with these impressive numbers.
