View Full Version : FS NoVA: Saint Bernard Puppy with supplies
Turbo NV 12-11-2006, 11:03 AM Boomer is a 20 week old male pure bread St. Bernard Puppy. He has had his second round of shots, and is due for the last set. Boomer is 60lbs and will reach 150-180 pounds when fully grown. He is crate trained and almost 95% house trained (will sometimes have accident when he gets excited - He has NEVER Pooped in the House) He is a big, gentle giant who loves children (we have two boys who adore him - 8 and 5 year old) and other animals. I am looking for a perfect fit... so I might be a little picky on choosing a new owner.
We are asking $350 and will include the following:
large dog crate - folds down for travel
two ceramic bowls
retractable dog leash - up to 150lbs
dog food - new 40lb bag
toys and bones
two collers - one regular and one training
The only reason we can not keep him anymore is because of our other dog... Missy is our Shih Tzu and is very jealous of our new puppy.

Dystinct 12-11-2006, 11:14 AM Beutiful dog.
Turbo NV 12-11-2006, 11:20 AM Yes he has great markings and is VERY mello for a pup. But he is big and our other dog is only 5lbs and she HATES him...Its not fair to him as we sometimes have to keep them separated as at some point he will figure out that he is bigger and doesnt have to take her crap like he does now.
spazegun2213 12-11-2006, 11:26 AM wow, beautiful dog. I really wish i had the time and space for something like a puppy.
ErasureWRX 12-11-2006, 11:31 AM accepting trades?
Turbo NV 12-11-2006, 11:39 AM hahaha...main thing is for him to go to a good home, we are trying to recoop some $$ for the crate and food and etc which is where the $350.00 comes in...basically your getting a free dog with the rest of the stuff.
And I guess it depends on what your trading? Car parts dont interest me right now as I am debating moving to the STI possibly early next year.

**Siper2 melts into a pile of puppy-lovin' mush.**
:D
Dude that's awesome.
Turbo NV 12-11-2006, 12:11 PM ^^^
Yes they do...Plus he is a cuddler...he is only about 55lbs now...I cant imagine another 100lbs flopping onto my lap...BTW, he thinks he is a lapdog.
This would be a great X-mas Present...I would be willing to hold onto him until that special moment for a surprise as long as I know it would be a welcomed surprise and a good home.
He is a puppy even though he is huge...he pees a little when he gets excited when you get home...Puppies pee, thats what their good at. We had a lady come look at him over the weekend and this would be her first dog with her husband...they were from Clifton and the good part if you know what I mean...I explained to her that he "trickles a little" if your not quick about getting on your jackets and leash on him. She said her and her busband were not ready for a dog to pee in the house and that they thought a different puppy that didnt trickle was better for them...I wouldnt have let them take the dog anyhow...he would be in the pound next weekend because he had the audacity to pee himself because they thought he could hold it for 20 hours. Just didnt get a good feeling about them.
Thanks for all the compliments
Turbo NV 12-11-2006, 12:12 PM Siper2, thats my greetings card pic attempt...No photoshop needed. Fisheye lens would have even been better.
Siper2 12-11-2006, 12:20 PM Well it's a great pic. I've taken pics of my Dad's dogs like that, it's always a cute photo. (He has yellow Labs, a grandma, daughter, and two kids who are now a few years old themselves.)
Can't have pets at our place though. And we're not really "ready" anyway. Guess I'd like to buy a house first, which we're hoping for, next year.

That was a good move, on your part. At this stage I think we'd have the time to spend with the pooch.. I work 3-4 days/week on 12-hour shifts, but my wife would either be home on the other days, or be home at least 1-2 times during the day over her lunch break (her practice is in our hometown).
Just... yeah, no pets. House first, dog later.
DiscoGsus 12-11-2006, 12:49 PM Just keep them both. The ****zu will figure it out and learn to live with it.
Best case: The ****zu figures it out, deals with it, and you have two dogs.
Best case 2: St.Bernard eats the ****zu and you have one dog and one less ****zu in the world.
Siper2 12-11-2006, 12:55 PM ^^ Sweet.
Shih-tzus are interesting. Stick a broom handle up its butt and it's a convenient dustmop. Otherwise I'm not in to small dogs. :D
co-driver girlie 12-11-2006, 01:24 PM im not in th amrket for a pup, but best of luck to you. i'd say though, that the shihtzu being first and i'm assuming older, the st.b will still respect her being the way she is. how long have you had boomer? do you think the shihtzu's attitude may change once she realizes boomer really is no threat to her?
lotusdrift 12-11-2006, 02:39 PM So cute. I don't think it will be too hard to place him, good luck!
Just as an FYI, breed rescues are well prepared for interviewing potential owners, and some can even do background checks for any history of animal abuse or violence. You might want to contact the st Bernard rescue and see if they are interested in assisting you.
impreza_punk 12-11-2006, 02:45 PM Aww man college sucks ..I don't see why I can't keep him in my dorm ;)
Good luck finding him a good home.
Turbo NV 12-11-2006, 03:13 PM Well we are afraid that Boomer will hurt her un-intentionally as he already kinda flops on her when she attacks him and she goes straight for the jugular.
He is kinda mouthing her as it is and she is relentless. I dont think she will turn to like him as I think she is just stuck in her ways. She doesnt like any dog if that means anything but my wife really loves that ugly thing. I am not a big fan of the Tzu either but if Boomer hurts that dog, I dont want to think what would happen. Boomer has been around for about 3 months now...
I would love to keep him, he is a awesome dog...but I think I want to stay out of the "dog house" with the wife and let her have her ragdog.
gforce 12-11-2006, 03:43 PM Beautiful puppy. I just picked up my beagle puppy this summer. Best of luck finding an appropiate home.
Unabomber 12-11-2006, 04:27 PM Man I used to have a St. Bernard years ago. TERRIBLY good dogs, I still miss mine. I'd love to say yes, but I don't think the time is right for me. Best of luck though.
Unabomber 12-11-2006, 04:30 PM After looking at those pics, I may have to talk to the wife now.... :)
kts262 12-11-2006, 04:46 PM Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww puppy!
I knew I was going to kick myself for viewing this thread and those pics. I love big dogs and my dad used to have St. Bernards way back when. This is totally the wrong time for me to be getting a puppy but he's just too cute.
I may be contacting you soon.... he's beautiful and I really want to get a dog, but the next 2 months are crazy schedule wise... Doh! What to do?
Siper2 12-11-2006, 04:58 PM Big dogs are awesome. You can wrestle with them and they won't break.
:D
Well.............. a St.B might break *you* when he's big enough!
PJAWRX03 12-11-2006, 10:50 PM I would take him in a heartbeat...but I have two dogs and a parrot already In a townhome...oh well good luck...and make sure he goes to a good owner
Siper2 12-12-2006, 08:12 AM Well.... it's good to know that MAIC has dog lovers, at least.

Turbo NV 12-12-2006, 11:00 AM I have someone coming out to take a look at him tonight who sounded like they are dog people and are replacing a Great Dane that just passed away so I hope it goes well...I will update you all...
Ron,
Let me know what the wife says...
And I must say that some of the people we have spoke with should not take care of a goldfish much less a dog...Scary...
Siper2 12-12-2006, 11:31 AM Yeah, very scary indeed. Puppies need training, time, discipline and a lot of love. And with a St.B, a lot of food. :D :D
Even my stepmother, in NH, thought the dog was too good to be true. Man this is more tempting than any car mod, that's for sure....................

Turbo NV 12-12-2006, 05:51 PM With every person we talk with it makes us want to keep him more and more but in the end it just wouldnt be fair to either dog and one of them is going to get hurt at some point as you would think they are mortal enemys. I got in the middle of them yesterday as the shihtzu had a hold of Boomer and wouldnt let go...I walked away with a bloody finger as the Tzu's teeth are tiny little razors. Crazy thing is the Shihtzu is a great dog too...It has NEVER acted this way to any other dog or person...just boomer. Weird...
MD04WRX 12-12-2006, 11:30 PM If he's still available. I would love to have him. I've got a fenced yard, good size house, another puppy, 3 cats and one 12 year old son that would really love to have a big dog. Let me know if the other people don't work out.
Unabomber 12-12-2006, 11:34 PM Wife said no. :( I'd love to have another one some day though as they are really great. Word to the wise on St. Bernards....if you buy Dog Chow or "ghetto" dog food, it will look like full man-dumps in your yard and you will plow through a 40lb bag/week. The more $$$ the food, the less they eat and smaller teh poo. Seems odd, but that's how it worked out for my Saint. All the best buddy, and damn is that a pretty dog!!!
Turbo NV 12-13-2006, 08:22 AM Well the people last night seemed nice as they would be getting him for thier father who is a Minister and just had hs dog pass away from Cancer. The thing is he lives in Maine. this dog is built for the cold which is good, but the only thing I hesitate on is that the receiver doesnt know what the dog is and has never seen it as it is a surprise. They are fully convinced that he will love him so think it will be ok...they will email us today to let us know for sure. If it doesnt work out for some reason MD04WRX, your next in line and it would be a great fit for you as he loves older children...doesnt really care to much about younger kids.
Thanks
Beau
ButtDyno 12-13-2006, 08:40 AM Dogs as surprises
Turbo NV 12-13-2006, 05:55 PM yeah, they are not always welcomed and a dog is something you see first much less taking to someone in MAINE!!! They havent emailed us back like they said however I will give them till tonight, then it will be available again...I am pulling for someone in MAIC club so I can see him grow into a monster!!!
Beau
gforce 12-13-2006, 07:22 PM awwww....when i was younger i worked at a kennel for a year and this couple would always drop off their saint since they did business trips a few times a month......we started gettin him as a pup and up until i left.....i was the only one he listened to and could handle him (and a great dane too, luv them also!) but he was so sweet.....but man he would pull my ass around and i was a good 150-175 at that age......lol
Turbo NV 12-13-2006, 09:22 PM MD04WRX,
You have PM...

kts262 12-14-2006, 12:10 AM MD04WRX beats me to all the cool stuff. First he beats me to the JDM tinted rear window w/ wiper, now to the St. Bernard. ;)
Let me know if you ever need anyone to take care of the puppy if you and the family go away on vacation, etc.
Siper2 12-15-2006, 10:19 AM MD04, if you get this dog, I wanna see him at meets. :)

As long as he doesn't eat my V9 Spec C interior, I'll bring him with me.

Siper2 12-16-2006, 07:11 PM HI, BOOMER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(Gets retarded over dogs. :p )
serendipity 12-16-2006, 08:13 PM What a cutie!
If we'd seen this earlier we'd have been all over it. We were at the MCHS today looking at shelter dogs. We need a companion for our Great Dane - needs to be a breed big enough to play with (and tire out) our 120 pound puppy :)
I think we're going to get in touch with MAGDRL and find a rescued Dane to bring home.
Turbo NV 12-16-2006, 10:36 PM Glad it was in the rental, and man was it tough letting him go...Wife cried a bit but we were both very glad that great people got him...Mike and his wife were very nice and will make terrific new parents to Boomer and a great Pal out of their son. keep the pics coming!
