It's going to be 6.26 miles long all together!!!! This will consist of two circuits - a 3.72 mile circuit and a 3.17 mile circuit that can be used at the same time for separate track events, or combine the two for the 6.26 mile circuit. There will be substantial elevation changes with long straights and a variety of different types of turns... here, take a look at the proposed track layout and other info:

I'm sure some are as excited about this as I am! Some may have heard about this already. I've heard some rumors floating around that are completely untrue. Read the FAQ on the site to get the right info.

May be coming to Colorado. They haven't even secured funding yet, which if you know anything about our track situation, that's the biggest problem here.

Don't get me wrong, I want this to happen more than anyone. Its just that we shouldn't get our hopes up.

I think with miller's track here in Utah it may even be a little tougher.

It will either be funded through private investors, country club membership fees, or both. The nice thing is that all the zoning requirements and land permits are completely taken care of - which is the problem that kills most track plans out here (and across the nation really). So things look good.

I can understand the skepticism, with all the other talk of other tracks that have been killed/slowed by zoning issues and land permits. But land permits is actually the biggest hurdle to cross, which is what's plagued other plans out here. We've been led to believe it will be nearly impossible to get a track built out here. Before I moved out from California I was following the progress of a track that was planned for the central valley - for nearly 2 years. They couldn't get the proper land permits, similar to what's been going on out here. That project is still not moving forward because of that.

But the land permits are taken care of, the zoning has been approved, and they're now taking care of the funding as we speak. Sure, money isn't necessarily a piece of cake to raise, but it's a hell of a lot easier to raise money when you have land permits and zoning already taken care of, which hasn't been the case for any track plan out here since Second Creek closed. Hell, they already have a track designer under contract. Trust me, there are plenty of reasons to be excited about this project. I've been talking with the two guys in charge regularly and have the real information.

I know many don't want to get their hopes up, but visit the site and read up on what's going on so you can at least be educated on the progress and get the facts. Unfortunately I've heard a lot of rumors and speculation that is way off base. People saying things like "this will be a members track only" or "it's going to be super expensive" - both of which are not true. And if people would have read the info on the site they would have known this. But instead, speculation has been floating around for one reason or another and people just take it as fact.

Exactly. That's why I can understand the skepticism. But what people have to keep in mind is that the group that fooled you once (or twice depending on how you look at it) is not the same group leading this project.

Hey, we all know nothing is certain until the gates open and cars are on the track, right? I just want people to know that the site is there and have people see the information for themselves instead of listening to rumors/speculation/opinions from people who have no idea what's really going on. Up to this point, no other track plan in our area has had a track designer under contract, land permits taken care of, and had the land leased and ready to go. At least not to my knowledge. I think that right there is enough to make everyone feel a little better about what's going on.

Thought about this a little more - I'm guessing the logic is that because Miller is in the same region that getting another track built would be difficult due to the proximity? Maybe competition for venues?

First of all, Miller is a spectator track. Genoa won't be. So there won't be any battling for pro racing venues. Second of all, a new club track just opened up in Hastings, Nebraska, which is about the same distance from Denver to Miller. It also just happens to be very close to Heartland Park in Kansas (maybe 3-4 hours) where SCCA holds their Runoffs every year. Yet it didn't stop Hastings from opening their track. Miller is a good 7-8 hours away from Denver so I don't know that proximity can be an issue. In any event, there has been no indication that Miller will have any affect on a club track being built in this area any way.

Just wanted to throw that out there.
