This thread got inspired by the old school vs. new school thread in this forum. I could have asked this question in the general forum, but I'd rather ask you guys. While we're being all elitist over the bandwagon WRX owners, do you think the status of the board will improve or get worse when the EVO comes out? I hadn't really thought of the implications. Maybe some WRX owners will switch over to the EVO right away, which would be a good thing because we don't want those guys anyway. :)
Maybe EVO owners would start trolling the board though, and just be unpleasant and annoying. What do you guys reckon?

I think it'll be a combination of both.. hopefully allot of the trendy little kids get rid of their WRX's and get EVO's.. But who knows, maybe all of the kids who get rid of their WRX's to get Evo's are going to be the ones trolling.. Dah! It's still a Mitsubishi!

well no matter how much i want ot admit this i think it would get better...but personally if hte EVO did come here as well as the STi it would be a HUGE toss up which to buy...i love my scooby but the STi is a little behind on the technology. I like the fact that the Evo has an electronically adjustable center diff and an almost bullet proof driveline. i would most likely buy the STi though. I love both cars and really i don't think either one should count as a mainstream cause becuase they aren't...kinda like Ford's original SVO(special vehicle operations) team that built the Hellacious turbo'd mustang in the 80s' before they became SVT. I think quite a few people will ditch the WRX for the Evo...in fact i can almost guarntee it. But what i can also guarntee is ALOT more poeple that used to have WRX's coming back to the board and "talk *****" so to speak just to antagonize and say how much better their car is. Well ya know what, more power to ya. If that is what makes them feel better about having spent $33-$35K(which will most likely be RIGHT around the price of hte STi and the Evo) then so be it. I just know that if i buy one it's not going to be just so i can say i did it and i have it but more because I WANTED IT. Besides just cause you have money DOESN'T mean you can drive for SHEEOT! I don't think if mysef in any way shape or form as an elitest...but i do think everyone on the board deserves respect for the knowledge they do have. And lately it seems more and more that our knowledge is no longer well and good because we DON'T own WRX's.

I dont think the rollover would be that great from wrx to evo. Some but not many. Most of the guys i hang with with a rex wont go evo. They know the Subarus are good and theyll stick wit them.Alot more i think will go STI.Then youl see more rexs on the market fr cheap:D then i mite consider one.BTW,this weekend we had a meet (57 or so cars) and I saw my 1st Sedona red WRX sedan. It had one cosmetic mod,the Morretes. It really was sweet lookin without those damn stock headlights. The stock black trim compliments that car alot more then the silver or blue.

I really don't know what it is with these new models, because I like the GC8-type styling better than the "new-age impreza", and I also like the EVO IV and V styling much much better than the EVO VII. What's going on? (My bid is definitely with the WRX vs. the new EVO though)

Hey, hey, hey, you WRXers aren't supposed to be in here! just kidding, I really do like the new WRX a lot, even have a poster of the STi WRX that I picked up at a Subaru dealership in Japan on the wall of my office. I'll tell you right now, though, I'll drive my MY99 into the ground (would that be just when my trunk monkey dies?). . .then right when I'm about to sell it, I'll put a turbo in it. ;)
