I just noticed that the downpipe from my turbo is causing some wires about 1" above it to melt. What ever hard plastic casing around it has melted, but I'm wondering if theres something else I could possibly do, such as wrapping the wires with something? Relocation is out of option as its a big group of wires going into the fire wall and dosnt look like it has much slack.
it should be pretty clear what Im talking about in this pic, look at the wires with the black plastic casing above the downpipe in the upper middle section of the pic.

any ideas?

are those stock wires? as i dont recall wires being there. anyways. you could fab up a small metal heat sheild out of some thin alu or SS and attach it to your firewall, that would work. you can also look for some wire wrap that has a alu covering to reflect the heat.

Could you get a header wrap or something for the downpipe?

I think Im gonna add some sort of aluminum wrap around the wire for now, and make something out of sheet metal or aluminum. not gonna wrap the header. To pretty.

Turns out those are not stock wires so your right about that. I bought the car used, and who ever did the previous audio install drilled a hole there and put the thick monster audio wire through there. Good overall install job, bad choice on placement. I should be able to move it closer to the firewall with the some zip ties (as crazy as it sounds, people have told me black can hold more heat than the clear/white ones, fyi incase anyone cared to know) and am going to go to homedepot to try and find some aluminum to block the wire for added protection. Should be easy to do.

You can get aluminum coated wire heat sleeves from Summit Racing- probably would work better.
