Disclaimers:
5000k ft elevation, 91 Octane with 10% ethanol(sucks), Mustang AWD dyno(reads lower than other dynos) tuned to run well all year long, hot, cold, elevation changes, reliability and driveability paramount.

Other mods:
Cobb TBE with cat, Cobb SS uppipe, AP, snorkel delete, Walbro pump, STI intercooler, scoop and bypass valve. Stock splitter(STI on hand, just need to fab up the ducting now, should be a bit better on long dyno sessions once done.)

Stock injectors operating at 85% so they are just fine.

17PSI, restrictor pill to control the wastegate, nearly 100% mechanical now, more reliable than electronic control.

I am waiting for the printouts to be emailed to me but for now.

Full boost at 3,200 RPM, 260ft lbs, 237 WHP(seems rather low but sure pulls hard), peak WHP at 6,300 RPM so I have a very nice and wide power band.

The powerband is uncommonly smooth, AF is very consistent. Redline set to 6,900 RPM for autocross reasons but will be shifting sooner almost always.

No spikes at all, boost is set to drop off at higher RPM due to the limit of the stock cams, just not enough air flow for allot of boost at high RPMS.

The car pulls hard early and all the way to 6,300 RPM, it runs very fine at idle, full boost and part throttle, like stock when out of boost. No idiot lights, no surges, etc, etc, just runs perfectly.

Christian was very impressed with how well this turbo works and they are only $599 at Turbochargers.com

Again, if those numbers seem low, I have had a custom turbo system on a car that had better numbers and less weight to haul around tuned on a Dynojet just above sea level and my FXT would eat that car alive all through the rev range.

I thought I knew a pretty decent amount about turbos and tuning but if I wrote everything I learned today it would take a few chapters. Now I get to have plenty of fun but do not have to worry about a super tweaked to the max grenade under my hood.

----------------

I was a bit dissapointed in the low numbers until Christian came back grinning and I got my turn testing it out, real world usable power is more than enough now, no matter what the numbers say;)

Though boost onset is a bit slower, it actually works better as not quite as sharp, less wheelspin out of the hole so it accelerates faster then really starts pulling hard and barely tapers off at higher RPM, real strong to my 6,300 rpm shift point.

It pulls so much better in upper gears now, highest speed I have gone is 100 and it gets there darn quick. Then I hit the brakes pretty hard and bring it down to ticketless travel velocity;)

The exhaust is quieter under boost now, not as growly which I kind of miss but that is probably because more air is flowing through it.

Overall, much more power and a much wider power band, easier to launch, no check lights, runs really really well during all types of driving.

----------------------------

One more thing I forgot to post, Christian did some testing, at my request, in cutting back the drop throttle lag issues these cars come with. I know, it is a smog item but I live where no smog checks are required, I run a cat and it seems to only effect WOT situations, part throttle, i.e. normal driving.

I wanted to see what he could do to help when I autocross the car, also a bit of mountain running as lifting off and having the throttle stay open can be a bit unnerving to say the least, about caught me out on one occasion.

Anyway, I may go back for more tweaking in that department, for now the jury is out, let's wait for the verdict to come in;)

-------------

Being close enough to have somebody the caliber of Christian tuning is a big bonus for me, sure glad they are here! I was going to get an R500 and the tuning software and figure this out but it is so nice to just have it done and have fun. I am so busy with business I just cannot be the mod nut I have been all my life, time to hang up the tool belt and pay once in awhile. Of course I install everything myself at least:)

Thank you for sharing your experience with this turbo as I am thinking about going this route also on my 06TR. Quick question: do you have any idea how this turbo (on a 2.5l) compares to a VF39? From what I've researched, it sounds like the big 16g evo3 is very similar but just superior in almost every category.

Yes, thank you. Damn few people post Cobb results for some odd reason. Funny you should mention smaller restrictor pill too. Everybody and their brother uses an upgraded BCS these days when you can do the same thing with a 10 cent piece of brass. Nice report, but I gotta move this to a better forum, thanks for the post Rick.

Good numbers for that altitude. I live at 4900ft so I now the feeling.

Nothing against christian, he is an awesome tuner for making reliable maps. But damn is he conservative. But he makes a really good base map to tune from. Nice torque though on that dyno. How much did he charge you?

That's a hell of a lot better than I did on COBB's dyno. I only made 224whp and 197ft-lbs on my '05 WRX with a DB18G and an APS DR525.

EDIT: I think it's pretty evident why I didn't start a thread in PPB with those numbers on my setup until now.
