Did anyone use apexi N1 catback with the 98 2.5rs stock axle back muffler?
I have a borla header and the N1 catback, but the apexi muffler axle back was scratch. So I tried to put the stock axle back muffler back. Will the rumble sound still on?

The stock exhaust is a baffled muffler. It will not sound as loud as a straight-through muffler like the N1. The baffles will muffle the exhaust pulses.

As anybody thought/done about removing the baffles from an STI muffler?

You would have to tear the muffler apart, cut it up with a torch or something, and then weld it all back together.
Sounds like a great way to save $100 on a new muffler.

Simply cutting open your existing muffler, removing the baffles and putting it back together again won't do you much very good. Yes, your car will be loud, but most likely your exhaust will not flow very well. I'm no fluid-dynamics engineer/expert, but I wouldn't be surprised that there would be a lot of exhaust turbulance in the modified "muffler". A good "straight-through" muffler has a perforated straight pipe that connects one end of the muffler to the other. Around on the outside of that perforated pipe is usually some sort of high-temp fiberglass fibers to help baffle and dampen the sounds.
To me, this sounds like a good way to ruin a good muffler. Then again, if you have a spare/unused muffler that you want to open up and modify, then what do you have to lose? :D

FYI the removal of baffles from a muffler that comes with them is illegal. Installing a muffler with less baffles is in grey area and you can sometimes get away with it. Just thought id let you know ;)
