iLL try to make this as easy to understand as i can. I bought fog lights from autozone for $40 last week. Installed them and they work great. Yesterday some old lady puts her window down next to me and says "hey your tail lights arnt working, only your brake lights come on." So i pull over and check. Shes right, so for a week ive been driving without parking lights. Back to last week. After i installed them, i wasnt sure where to tap for power to them. Only thing that looked easy to get into was the red/power wire that goes to that little parking light button on the steering console. And i figured wtf, i never use this button might as well disable it. So i cut the wires and used the power one for my fogs. Back to yesterday, i checked the fuses and the harness's on my tails and everything was fine. The only thing i could think of was the wires i cut. So i touched those wires to see if the parking lights would come on and they did. So now im like great i have to fix these wires and i have no room at all. So i thought maybe those wires where connected to that switch on the steering console. I popped it out with a screw driver and a little silver metal ball came out. So now im like wtf. So i put those aside and wired the wires best i could for now. Today i solderd the wires and everything is cool, except that button. I put that ball back in and put the button on. But now that switch has to be "on" for my parking lights to work PERIOD. If its off even with my car on and the main lights on the parking lights wont come on. Also when i turn that switch on with no key in the igniton the lights dont light up like before. So my problem is where does that damn ball go and how do i get that switch to opertate like before. Im stuck... Sorry if my story doesnt sense, i tried! Thanks!

Wow... You have made a whole list of mistakes by jumping in with both feet and a wire cutter in hand.

$40 dollar fog lights? Hard wiring additional loads into stock wiring with no inline fuse, relay, or real harness to speak of.

Hope you can get things sorted out and not hurt your car anymore. And why go the ghetto route when it comes to your own car?

Well wiring is wiring. I dont see how price matters. I guess i could remove the wiring for the fogs and see if that makes a difference.

If your problem started after hacking something in, it would only make sense to put things back to stock before anything else, to fix the problem.

Then spend the few extra $$ and use realys to reconect the extra lights. Your aftermarket lights may be OK for your application, but something might not be happy in the stock wiring.
