Question: Found a HID Kit from an 04-05 STi and wanted to know if i could use them including the level adjust in my 2006 WRX. Has any one tried this or know of any problems?

The 2006 headlights have the hole for the ballasts under the headlight. You will need a dremel to cutout the plastic in the hole though.. but it'll screw in once they are cut.

Your headlights will require heavy modification to install the leveling motors (thats if the 05 motors are the same as the 06 STI's).

Then you'll need the harness from the leveling switch to the headlights (05 will fit? probably not..)

It's quite a bit of work.. I'm going to try installing 06 STI leveling motors + harness + switch into my 06 2.5i .. (but I got 06 STI headlights..) should make the job a bit easier..

What I'm looking for is the pin out from the back of the switch to the headlights so I can wire them according to wire color, and wondering if there's any necessary Relay's required to be installed?

what about the fact that the 05 sti's have d2r hid's and the 06 uses an h7 type bulb. you could get the adapter to make it fit, then you will still need to cut a hole in the back cover too. i have no idea about the level motors, since the lights are different, i would guess that the motors are shaped different too. i think...

You wont be able to use the leveling adjustment on the WRX lamps. reason being is that it would be hard as hell to make it air tight since you would need to cut the housing to make the motor fit. even if you got it to fit, you need a speacl ball joint mount in order to mount the motor screws onto the bracket that holds the projector, letting it actually move.

If you have the HID kit it will be plug and play with the h7 adapters that you need to source.

You can covert the d2r bulb so it works on d2s, very easy just create a new notch and shave off the black strip.


Good luck, I would go with a retrofit, the stock halogen projector with HID kit is horrid.

i have the hid's off my 05 sti, and i was wondering if they would fit right into an 05 wrx, if not what mods do i need to do?

no, the 05 sti uses a d2r bulb and the wrx uses a H1 bulb. can't swap them
