View Full Version : 3" Turbo inlet under Version 5 / 6 Intake manifold?

Does anyone know if you can run a 3" turbo inlet hose under a V5 / V6 intake manifold? I have a Version 5 WRX Type RA motor with a Perrin turbo inlet hose, sized for VF series turbos, and it was a major pain to get that thing in... The V5 / 6 manifold doesn't have TGVs like the V7 / 8 does, so it sits lower and it is a real squeeze to get the stupid hose under there.
That makes me think that a 3" turbo inlet hose wouldn't fit, but maybe someone out there has tried it and knows? I really hope it fits because running the factory inlet diameter with a big turbo like a 20G or FPGreen would really hold back power :(

1- That intake is sized for stock turbos. I already have one.

2- My intake manifold is already TGV-Less, and a Version 7+ manifold would not fit (no brackets for coil pack, no throttle cable brackets, etc).

My current setup so you can visualize it a little better:
