People have been telling me I should swap to AccessPort2 from my current ECUTek reflash.
What's the general consensus on this? What would I need to do?
Is it possible to get my current program written for AP?
Also, what advantages does the AccessPort have?
I don't know anything about the APs
Can you have multiple programs available? I was hoping to have like a gas saver program and a performance program
I do alot of commuting at work and being able to turn to a leaner map with less boost would help me alot at the pump.

oh, and is there any way to get any money out of the ECUtek in terms of trading or selling it? I know it's just a reflash, but I'm curious.

the EcuTeK license cannot be removed from your ECU. In order to recoup those costs you would have to remove your ECU, sell it, and purchase another compatible ECU. Then buy an APv2 and reflash with that.
There are plenty of thread sfloating around that list the advantages of the APv2, most of them are on the front page in this forum :D.

so, I'll have to swap my ECU with someone who has a stock 02 ECU then?
I assume I need to make sure it's the same year?

i think there are some that have used 03's and been fine, and others that have gotten CEL's due to some of the senors being different... i would personally get the same year.

hmm
or just eat the cost entirely... car came with EcuTek, so I shouldn't complain.

It is my understanding that this is not true, EcuTeK should have a flash that your tuner can flash to the vehicle which will allow the ECU to be over-written. I would just contact your tuner to get this taken care of.
Take care,
Christian.

Can't you just flash over any pre-existing software? I thought the ECU can be re-flashed with a new base map several times. If you have an AP, wouldn't re-flashing a new base map write over the Ecutek just as it would the OEM programming?

Hey Christian,
I never said the ECU couldn't be overwritten. I'm sure it most certainly can. My response was in regards to the OP recouping his EcuTeK license, in which case he would have to sell his ECU ;)
to my knowledge anyway...
