Will and AP that was running on an 04 WRX work on a 05 WRX or do you have to load different software??

you can do that and its free, but if you don't want to wait you can flash it with 05 only firmware, and vice versa you have to do it yourself and its at your own risk whereas if you send it in its guaranteed.

Yes, that is correct. Cobb originally updated their first AP to have '04/'05 merged into one map, but they split it back apart after people had stalling issues. I upgraded and then downgraded with no issues, and I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer. Just follow their instructions to the letter, and you'll be fine. :)

I had a 04 ap and when we DL'd the maps to flash my car we some how loaded 05 maps. Well the car ran fine and when I even got protuned we loaded it for 05 ecu and it still worked fine. I sold my AP to a guy on here with an 05 and it worked fine for him also. I never sent it to cobb to get reformatted. Just my 2 cents here.
