Purchased one of those ebay gc8 fmic kits. So far it seems like a pretty good buy. Packaged well, delivered fast, huge core, decent stuff. Don't have the motor in yet for final fitment but have the core mounted. Took my time with a basic grinder with a cutting disc and a dremel tool and cut up the factory bumper beam as little as possible.

Your luck you have a 99 and up style front bumper. On my 98 I had to cut pretty much the whole center out of my bumper. I also bought an eBay FMIC. The only problem I had is the piping didn't fit just right so I had to cut and re-join it in 2 places. Other than that I like it.

This is what it ended up looking like in my bumper.

Nice missing mirror.

I like to see damage on cars.. battlescars are cool. Show queens suck.

Did you get yours from SSautocrome? It looks like we have identical FMIC, but mine was from a Honda h22 package, it was cheaper, and I was able to use the lower two pipes, and reuse my uppers...

Hot pipe hits pitch stop. If I rotate it up the other end gets all wacked out. Anybody have any advice on this situation or have a similar problem with their ebay intercooler? It also hits the clutch line but I think I can rotate that. The pitch stop seems to be the major hang up. Sorry for the poopy pics but it is very cold and I was shaking.

Edit: I was able to kind of get it to fit by moving the clutch line the the other side. It doesn't fit well though. I think I am going to need at least one or two hump hoses to get it to work.

Oh yeah. I forgot about that.

What I did is I totally bypassed the throttle body radiator lines and then I rotated the clutch line. It's still a tight fit, but it works.

BTW, thanks for the complements on the picture. The mirror is actually missing because I got hit by one of those big coal trucks. It took out the drivers side door and the quarter panel. It also bent both struts on the drivers side.

I'm in the process of finding parts right now. As most of you probably already know, 2 door Impreza's are getting really hard to find.

This thing totally fits like poop. It most definitely not designed for a 95 ej20g, or even a gc chassis for that matter imo. I can't get the cold pipe from the intercooler to come remotely close to fitting with the radiator and motor in place. There is simply no room and the bends are way off. I already have hacked the thing in two other places and can't see if cutting that bend will do anything at all. I have cut the crap out of my car as well and still can't make enough room. The timing belt cover and radiator hose make the space extremely tight. Has anyone had a similar problem in this area?

mines installed on a 95 ej20g too.. but mine seems to fit alot nicer. i didnt encounter any problems. besides cutting and cupling. ;)

xtian, thanks for that pic.

Here is a couple pics of my problem. I am thinking about maybe cutting a couple inches out of the pipe where the weld is as it passes under the chassis. In the first pic the pipe is literally against the timing belt cover and radiator hose. This is the best I could get it to fit.

I love the other work you've done but that looks like absolute **** lol

is there a way to mod a different bumper to fit that? even a honda bumper?

The bumper skin was already cut out for the other front mount which was installed WITHOUT cutting the bumper beam. Supposedly I have a concerned citizen giving me a nicely modified bumper skin with the lower section still intact....

Its actually not all the bad looking when you aren't just staring at the front end. Not thats its good looking either though....

i fit one of these on a gc8 with a ej20g, and we found that if you took a 5 lb sledge to the corners of the intercooler feed and exit pipe areas that contact the pinch weld, it helped alot.

fitting the ebay piping is no fun. a Greddy FD fmic kit piping was sacrificed for the cause, as was some volvo turbo couplers.

I don't have very many pic's from this event of my car, but what I do have you can see here (http://trisrc.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=64&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=15).

And for those interested, there are some video's here (http://www.trisrc.com/video.htm).

This is a thread in the Car Part reviews forum that shows how a couple people got their Ebay FMIC's installed on the GC/GF models.

I put some details in post 12 and some pictures further down.

Hope this helps.
