Hows it drive? what intercooler are you using?

Drives a hell lot better than before. Pulls pretty hard.

And I'm still using the stock TMIC.

I think this is the first time I've seen a stage 2 STI with more hp than torque, not to mention that the overall numbers look very low for the dyno... something doesn't seem quite right to me.

Nice numbers for a VF39 on 91. Just curious, how long did it take Harmon to tune and how much did it cost you?

Future mods...

STi TMIC with JDM 02/03 hood scoop with the splitter
TXS stealthback + Prodrive Round or Stromung Dual Tips

I want something less noticable and quieter...

That might be it for the power mods :D

not worth the money seriously. The sti tmic the same as the wrx one but larger. Go bar and plate for cheap with the ebay tmic.

also ditch your hks dp for something else. If you can swing it get headers and uppipe after you are done with your turboback exhaust.

Swap out the up and dp for...?

If you already have a catless uppipe, no need to swap out for something else.

As far as turboback...your choice. Keep in mind if you go for the TXS/prodrive you will still have a 2.5" axleback. Most tuners will say a full 3" is *ideal* for a bigger than stock turbo.

Dyno looks nice for such minimal mods :)

Uppipe is already catless, it's an STi one.

Hmm... maybe I'll go with Stromung since they offer 3", including the midpipe section.

seeing this thread and knowing I have alky, perrin IC pipes and more exhuast makes me really anxious to install my parts and see what I can get from my 39. Not too mention 93 octane :)
still stock TMIC

Does anyone know what is the greatest HP that anyone has made on a 2.0 with a VF39?? Nice setup btw. Must feel great compared to stock. Night and Day Difference.

I'm jealous of the power you got from that vf39 with really minimal mods. I'm seriously considering going your route rather than my original plan of a big16. It seems to be a much more efficient for daily driving and every day fun, than a bigger turbo.

Question regarding the PM you sent me. Is that price with ecutek licensing or just the tune?

Do you have a boost vs rpm chart by chance?

Your numbers are awesome...why did you choose to stop at 17psi? I'm beginning to tune a nearly identical setup myself.

Thanks and is good enough no?

Thanks and is good enough no?

Good enough for the girls I date :)

Just curious 'cause the turbo certainly has more in it than 17psi, so I was wondering if det/knock became an issue, or reliability concerns, or fuel mileage, or just preference, etc.

Tuner's preferance and I had no problem with that.

17psi and I'm putting out those numbers, I'm interested in what more boost could do, but I don't have the luxury of that kind of funding. Currently I'm currently saving up to swap out the exhaust components so that I could try to stay under the radar to avoid potential problems with the local PD. Black car with 15% all around and an exhaust is just asking for it =T

im running a vf39 at 20psi(17psi at redline) with a FMIC, header and water injection(straight water)

SAE corrected it made 300whp and 286wtq with 11.7afr across the board

uncorrected, like your chart, would be 310whp and 295wtq

this was also on a dynojet 4wd dyno which from experience, reads very closely to the dyno at harman motive.

so with a header, 3 more psi, fmic and water injection its 40 more hp and 55 more tq, and despite the header(not coated or wrapped) and fmic, my peak torque is only 400rpm after yours, and through out most of the power band my car is making 25-50 more hp

the vf39 definately has the capability to give you a much nicer powerband.

Very nice. I'm attempting to tune to ~18.5psi on pump gas, then ~20psi with eBay TMIC. I'm guessing I'll need to stay at ~11.0 AFR to stay safe :(

Did you also tune your car for straight gas? What #'s did you see there?

nope, i run water all the time so i didnt bother tuning the car with out it.

yea, high 10's to low 11's is where i like to tune subarus that are just running on 91 octane

so you aren't running a 50/50 meth water mix?

yup, thats why i said straight water in my first post in this thread.

im a big fan of convenience and being daily driveable, if im low i can go into any store and fill up the tank.

when i finish my built motor, im gonna do a straight 91 map, a 91 and water map, a 91 and 100% meth map, and a c16 map, but for now, i just run one map.

100% meth is a waste thanks to temps in the engine bay ;)
Keep it with a water mix for the boiling reasons

well, my tank is in the trunk, so the engine would have to get REALLY hot to heat up the tank in the trunk

2.5 inch exhaust is not a restriction till 330whp... Don't worry about 3 inch, you aren't in that ball park.
