RR02wrx 12-24-2006, 09:44 PM I'm glad to see these high hp subies coming from other places than PR/Europe/Austrailia....
railguy 12-24-2006, 10:27 PM I am pretty sure it is not rwd, I could be wrong but last time I talked to howard he never mentioned that to me.......Lets hope my red puts out good numbers down their. But none the less congrats (I was hoping for 700, but that is only time)
Eric
suby44 12-24-2006, 11:16 PM Very nice to see another subie with a normal sized turbo!!!;) GREAT #'s guys!!
distorto 12-24-2006, 11:31 PM what was causing all of the air blowing from under the engine?

Brady12 12-25-2006, 12:34 AM Correction
This was actually a GT40R.
Shes not RWD, yet. Howard has big plans for her, this is just the beginning of the beasts journey.

jays05 12-25-2006, 10:00 AM That's the lumpiest, nastiest idle I've ever heard on a subaru. Totally amazed!
xdrian 12-25-2006, 06:22 PM wow very nice powa in that thing
kcook 12-25-2006, 07:02 PM what gear was that pull in?
RaceSleeves 12-25-2006, 09:19 PM The car is still on the factory trans at this time. We are getting AndrewTech to build us a dogbox for it.
To answer the question of all the blowing under the car....It has a 3.5" downpipe exiting straight down........It blows all of the dirt from the pits up and under the engine... :)
Before I can go any further with the project I have to upgrade the MAP sensor to a 5bar.....
The clutch thats in the car is a Tilton Carbon plate clutch......Its having a hydralic release problem that we were unable to fix....so we have to call Tilton sometime this week and figure out whats wrong.
Its ugly because we are working on the driveline and mechanical things first.....The car will get a widebody conversion before its all said and done though.....For now my money is going into the drivetrain.
Happy Holidays

kcook 12-25-2006, 11:34 PM how big is the block , built 2L or 25? what gear was that cause the spool sounded realllllllllllllllll slow. i know its a 40r , but still
thechoochman28 12-26-2006, 12:03 AM how big is the block , built 2L or 25? what gear was that cause the spool sounded realllllllllllllllll slow. i know its a 40r , but still
I think it said a built 2.7L block... i agree the spool is way too slow for my taste.
LukeWRX 12-26-2006, 12:36 AM RWD but still amazing
Did you watch the video!?!?! AWD dyno
wcbjr 12-26-2006, 10:09 AM Torque seems low for a 2.7L.
Speed 12-26-2006, 12:47 PM Torque seems low for a 2.7L.
647 lb/ft ? Well if that's low for you then ... yes. :D
Silver '02 REX 12-26-2006, 01:30 PM Torque seems low for a 2.7L.
Huge cams do that don't they?
vlady 12-26-2006, 02:43 PM Amazing job pushing the envelope guys! I can't wait to see what happens in a month or so... :)
jays05 12-26-2006, 02:43 PM Torque seems low for a 2.7L.
Yeah a 20g would tear this thing up on the street.
SilverSurfer04STi 12-26-2006, 03:47 PM Just curious, why are you making this RWD? Just because you like it better? Using it for drift events? Some sort of advantage at the drag strip?
Good job on the power. Looks monstrous.
modaddict 12-26-2006, 04:06 PM Yeah a 20g would tear this thing up on the street.

hybooststi 12-26-2006, 08:51 PM congrats howard glad to see you got things rolling. let me know when your ready to produce another kit. congrats im sure your goal of 1000awhp will be attainable once you get the bugs worked out. its downhill from here my man.:D
k.c.
checque 12-27-2006, 02:41 AM Congrats Howard and everyone at AR Fab!
Now I know why my intake manifold got put on the back burner!
japslapr 12-27-2006, 11:05 AM I never thought slowly getting on the throttle on dyno's ever helped or made things quite accurate.
I had a roots blown car and tried it the last time it was on a dyno. Slow roll on the throttle and stomping on it netted 60ft lbs difference.
modaddict 12-27-2006, 01:32 PM ^^^LOL, that's just lag.... ;) :p
j/k
CoolRex 12-27-2006, 01:57 PM Lag???? Bah turbo lag is just foreplay ;)
DoctorNick 12-27-2006, 03:26 PM Again, I am so glad Nick doesn't allow "sigs". I get a headache trying to read thru all that.
Is there a dyno picture anywhere? or just in the video? and what does a stock STi make on that dyno?
Brady12 12-27-2006, 11:58 PM Lag???? Bah turbo lag is just foreplay ;)
Dude thats awesome, that should be on a sticker, well put!

Whoops, missed that number. Lol.

It's already on a t-shirt.

*cough*
AZScoobie 12-28-2006, 02:33 PM Not bad guys! It knocked on that run.. :( Sounds a little off key on the bottom end. But cant argue with 675!

jblaine 12-28-2006, 02:39 PM By the way, here's the video:

So you don't have to go over to iwsti.

Yep. It came from my old DSM days. There was a group of us goofing off and one of the guys said that. It was classic.
Skully 12-29-2006, 12:14 AM Dunno why, but that doesn't sound like 600whp. I've see/heard high HP cars...and that just doesnt do it for me. Turbo had 0 for powerband as well. But, i guess i'll be more impressed when i see track times come out of it.

AZScoobie 12-29-2006, 12:27 AM Remember. The car is on an inertia load dynojet dyno. The load is very light. once the car comes on boost the run is very short. This makes for Great numbers. The car knocked on that run as soon by the missing section of the Dyno chart. This happens when the knock causes the magnetic pickup interference. This state of tune would never make it through a pull on a loading dyno. Expect 580-600whp on a loading dyno with a no knock tune. Not bad!

are the dyno dynamics ,and mustang dyno's inertia load type dyno's also?
AZScoobie 12-29-2006, 12:59 AM No sir. They are load type dynos.

sonic rx 12-29-2006, 01:01 AM No sir. They are load type dynos.
Clark
i thought the dynapak was a load type dyno, and roller style type dynos were inertia. so what is the dynapak dyno? i am confused now
AZScoobie 12-29-2006, 01:38 AM :) This is going to turn into a dyno tech thread which we dont need.. Do some reading on the manufactures web pages for the dynos that you wish to learn about.
The Dynojet is inertia.. The dyno depends on the weight and rolling resistance for load. Dynapaks use loading pods and water. Mustang and Dyno dynamics use Eddy current load generators. Think of a huge electric motor that loads the car down.
Clark
sperry7 12-29-2006, 01:49 AM ^Clark... keeping em honest and then lightly complimenting
AZScoobie 12-29-2006, 01:56 AM Naw.. How can you not be impressed with 675 even if it is on a dynojet! I am impressed..
Clark
Skully 12-29-2006, 04:21 AM I would still like to see a timeslip... not really dyno numbers :D But i guess the suby comunity is known for having 12 second 500whp cars... which blows my mind. I guess i'll just have to sit back and wait.
