Someone will have to correct me on this but I'm pretty sure it's an EJ20K. My reasoning is because it looks like the turbo has a 90 degree inlet elbow setup, exactly like my EJ20G. I am pretty sure that the EJ207 didn't with their turbos and the intake piping ran under the manifold.
Do not take this is a correct answer, because I am probably dead wrong and only making a guess based on the turbo inlet design.
supasweetr34skyline 12-30-2006, 02:34 AM thanks for your help man. what did version 5/6 sti's come with anyways?
i_c_the_light 12-30-2006, 02:40 AM thanks for your help man. what did version 5/6 sti's come with anyways?
Wouldn't have a clue.
i_c_the_light 12-30-2006, 03:00 AM Okay, I've just confirmed it's an EJ20K. The gearbox code you gave us matches up to the gearbox used in the MY97-98 GT-B Legacys which to the best of my knowledge used the EJ20K. The code also matches the ver. 3 and 4 STi, which it seems did NOT come with a DCCD.
Just don't take this as gospel, I may be quite easily be wrong.
supasweetr34skyline 12-30-2006, 06:25 AM so this isnt true?!?
TY754VB1Ca
front helical LSD (R160)
Mechanical cable type 2way LSD (R180)
DCCD?
please tell me you were refuring to tranny code "ty752vbcaa"

I was refering to TY752VBCAA originally.
TY754VB1CA does have a front helical LSD, but not sure if it's an R160. I have no idea on the rear diff. This gearbox DOES have DCCD. Going with the model years they came from the bugeyes I think, so this gearbox would've been mated to the EJ207 (someone will have to confirm/correct me).
supasweetr34skyline 12-30-2006, 07:25 AM I keep thinking judging by the intake piping and the way the trottle body looks the engine looks from a v3-v4 sti(ej20g). my question is why would it have a 98-99 gear box mated with it.
i_c_the_light 12-30-2006, 07:46 AM What's the EJ20G got to do with it?
supasweetr34skyline 12-30-2006, 07:49 AM basically, he sent me pictures of the engine and tranny code. the tranny code matches up with a 98-99 sti v type-ra with dccd. but looking at the engine, its not a ej207 or ej20k. because the intake pipe comes from the back of the engine plus if you look at the intake manifold it looks exactly like the ej20g's

Having a G isn't a bad thing - I know I got one!

g have the upturned inlet, Ks go under the manifold like a 205/207 but have a coil pack and a divorced IAC
the pics above are of a ej20g i would speculate a ver 1 as it has no 5th injector
as a general guide
ver 1-2 (rev a-c) ej20g
ver 3-4 (rev d-e) ej20k
ver 5-6 ej207, (rev f-g) ej205
i_c_the_light 12-30-2006, 11:16 AM So then the gearbox doesn't match the engine with the MY...interesting.
95sti 12-30-2006, 05:43 PM There is an easy to read chart inside this post.
