I searched, but either searching owns me or the thread isn't titled well:

Changed plugs today, but #4 had a bit of oil collecting right at the lip of the valve cover. I'm no expert on flat motors, so my question is whether this is just a valve cover gasket leak. The plug itself was dry.

Question 2: Plugs 2 and 3 had shiny tips, plugs 1 and 4 looked normal for 13k miles. Diagnosis? I have never seen shiny v-grooves on NGKs before - they looked like obsidian.

I think you need new spark plug O-RINGs and valve cover gaskets. This has been covered 100s of times. Try valve cover gaskets-spark plug O-Rings etc.

Just noticed the same thing in my 01 RS, 3 had some (not a lot by any means) oil around the lip and 1 had just a tiny amount. will look into valve cover gaskets and o-rings.

I have 73k on mine, but I think it might still be under extended warranty... if it covers these sorts of things. Hopefully Borla headers won't void that
