EJ25E: 2.5RS
EJ255: WRX (06+)
EJ257: WRX STI (04+)

Taken from WIKI. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subaru_EJ_engine)

This I know. But, as far as the blocks are concerned, and ONLY the blocks, what are the differences? I'm only interested in the block, not the pistons, crank, etc. I can start a project with a free EJ25E, but if it doesn't have oil squirters and the EJ255/7 does, or if there are any other serious advantages, I'll go with a different block.

any info is greatly appreciated...i'm having a hard time finding info despite hours on google.

It actually breaks down even further than that...

MY98: EJ25D- DOHC/MAF (Phase 1)
MY99: EJ253- SOHC/MAF
MY00: EJ251- SOHC/MAP (Phase 2)
MY01: EJ251- SOHC/MAP (Phase 2)
