This should be posted in the Tri-State forum or engine managment forum, not built motor forum. IllNastyImpreza 01-02-2007, 03:41 AM if there is one....and u find it...I will give u my 2nd born child kheff46 01-02-2007, 10:25 AM only first will do! hondaeater69 01-02-2007, 11:54 PM what codes are coming up? EcuTeK has the ability to flash JDM ECU's and also the ability to defeat a nice size list of DTC's/CEL's. I would look into them first and foremost. does the free openecu flashing software work on JDM ECU's? if so that may be a free option. Piggyback's will most definitly NOT work. although many can turn the CEL off permanently, they cannot prevent the actual DTC and will show up in a OBDII scan (which i blieve NY requires) eastcoastbumps 01-03-2007, 07:03 PM It has nothing to do with codes. The testing machines simply cannot scan them. The machine gets an error and then fails the car for emissions. The only option is the one I mentioned, flash a USDM ecu. IllNastyImpreza 01-03-2007, 08:56 PM does the USMD wrx ecu plug directly in ? same pins and such ? anyone done this? I am verry curious because JDM turbo engines are readily available for rather cheap...way cheaper than us wrx engines eastcoastbumps 01-03-2007, 11:44 PM V7 and V8 JDM motors use the same harness as the US WRX. They are plug and play. The earlier ones are not. IllNastyImpreza 01-04-2007, 02:30 AM no shat huh ? wow I wish I had known that before... jonepachek 01-05-2007, 07:21 PM The USDM ecu will throw codes when it is hooked to the jdm engine, so you fail because of those codes. The choice is throw codes and fail with a usdm ecu or throw no codes but fail because the jdm ecu lacks the 4th ready code. I had the car running with the usdm ecu fine (no avcs) and it threw a code. Hook in jdm ecu instead, codes are gone, car still fails! eastcoastbumps 01-05-2007, 07:48 PM Reflash the USDM ecu so that the codes don't come up. hondaeater69 01-05-2007, 10:06 PM The USDM ecu will throw codes when it is hooked to the jdm engine, so you fail because of those codes.
