View Full Version : Questions about Perrin's new alky kit...

...saw that Perrin is now offering an injection kit. I looked on their website and looks pretty decent (is it the same as the aquamist kit?).

Wondering if anyone is running this kit and if anyone has anymore info on it? I see that a tank doesnt come with the kit, do you just use the existing IC spray tank? Just looking to compare with some other options like Cooling Mist and SMC...

Thanks in advance....

Why dont you do some research for yourself? Plenty of info here.

well I have, I ran a search and read a few posts and looked on the website but honestly I didnt see alot of first hand experience (posts were from back in nov 05)...just looking for some additional feedback from users that have the kit or have recent knowledge of it.

I have their kit, but it's too cold here in Colorado for me to have put on yet.

And, oh, here's the link you'll want to check out:

I cannot help you with user feedback but can answer most querstions about how the system works etc. The system is very new, only launched in November. I can tell you one thing though, no corners were cut from conception to birth.

I'm still waiting for a tune but I have the system up and running in my car right now. If you have any questions just PM me.

40whp w/h20methmix. Kit is very nice, especially for the money.

Looks like a pretty ligit kit. What else would you need to make this kit work? Can you tune this kit using a Cobb AP V2.0? (protuned obviously)

All you need is a tank. Everything else is included. If you are getting a protune you can use any version of AP.

I'm thinking about using the IC water tank since I dont really use it anyways..out of the way and easy to refill

If you do that you can use the pump that's on the tank for a primer pump. It would be the same basic system I have but with a bit less capacity.

I've got the Spec C tank that I'll be using. If I mix with 50% water and 50% meth would I need to vent it somehow (I don't want to breath some nasty fumes)?

Also, where's the best place to connect to the injector wire?

You will not need to vent it. We tapped the injector right by the battery. Since you have to run wires to battery anyway it just made it easy to loom everything up.

I finally got tuned last Friday. I can't remember the exact #s to be honest with you and I am still waiting for graphs from Tim. He did a stage 2 tune with pump gas, a high boost meth/h2o pump map, a low boost meth/h2o map and a 100 octane STU map for me. Lots of numbers and a late night = I don't remember exactly. The kit works great, Jeff and Tim had no problems tuning it or my car.

Great to hear. Good cross-section of maps, too. Are Tim's graphs from data logging or from dyno runs? If the former, then is the dyno next??? Be sure to take a baseline; there's at least a few of us who are interested in seeing the numbers in the baseline and in each map!

Does anyone know when tapping the injector wires by the battery which one of the injector wires is the positive and which is the negative?

I haven't gotten around to installing mine yet but, if someone could provide a picture of how they're tapping the injector wires that would be awesome.

i tapped into mine. I unplugged an injector and used a voltage tester to find the power and ground wire.
